The real reason the Rangers Suck

I've gone on and on about how our hitting approach sucks under Rudy J and how they should trade Kinsler, cut Laird, B McCarthy is a puss, etc.

The simple fact of the matter is that after that weekend series in Boston the players simply have no backbone. We've now given these guys a hardass manager in Buck and a players manager in R Washington. Washington did everything with that bully that he should have by bringing in Benoit in the 8th on Sat and CJ Wilson in the 8th on Sun.

Nobody can make a pitch when they REALLY need to and nobody can get a hit when they really need to. It's basically called the difference between the R Sox and Rangers is they have players who do it when it counts. D Pedroia has more balls than anyone on our team and he's ******* D Pedrioia. Everyone on that team is waiting for someone else to make the play that saves everyone's ***.

Who is the leader? Nobody in the INF. M Young, Kinsler, Blalock and the 1st base platoon? Anyone one of those guys going to call it what it is? No.

M Bradley is the only dude who I think plays with a little edge and maybe he's the best thing that will happen to this club. It's April, and the Rangers just had the kind of road trip that defines everything they hoped they wouldn't be this season. It's almost like Boston knew that they didn't have to come back because the Rangers would fold because they are the Rangers.

How was your weekend?

Oh, but we are "rebuilding", so it's all okay. F#ck that $hit. To say "re-building" means you've been somewhere or won a playoff series EVER. They are just plain "building" and with how this team's execs like to jack things up out there, that process won't amount to a hill of $hit either. Hopefully Nolan can right the ship and FINALLY turn things around.

They might as well say screw it, and trade any/all tradable commodities they have (Blalock, Young, Laird, Byrd, and Millwood). Bring the young guys (Salty, Arias, Davis, Mathis, Hurley, Teagarden and Gold) to the bigs and say GROW UP, and allow them to do so alongside the potential stars in Hamilton, Murph, and Kinsler (not giving up on him yet). I know it is not that easy, but could it get any worse than the poor excuse for a team they trot out onto that diamond every damn week?

Sorry, I am just sick of this $hit.

Uhhhhh, Uncle Rico... the RedSox series isn't over... they have game 4 this morning (started at 10:05 am ET). So... the Rangers have another opportunity to demonstrate all the stuff you mentioned above

Watching the Astros and Rangers just makes football season that much better IMO. I have been a Ranger fan since they moved to Arlington but they have never really had the great defense or the pitching to be a consistent threat in their division.

This team embarasses me on a daily basis

All Clay Bucholz needed to turn things around this year was run into the hapless TX Rangers. Go figure.

BTW, Armando Gallarraga looks good again today for the Tigers. Funny how a guy can make a rotation w/ Verlander, Robertson, etc, but can't make the cut for JD and Wash. Pathetic.

The Botts experiment has got to end. He has gotten plenty of chances and done nothing.

i'd rather have botts hitting than Ben Broussard and his .170 ***.

buckholz and d ortiz just need the rangers to roll in there on a 4 game series to get back on track.

F YOU TEXAS RANGERS!

C Davis has a SWEET *** swing. cant wait til he gets the call up one day. he hit some bombs in high school in the playoff series i saw. just a masher.

and isn't it amazing how every night/series its something different that screws up. if its not clutch hitting (usual culprit), its errors, if not errors, base running, if not those then its starting pitching, then jennings goes and shuts down the sox only to not get clutch hitting or bullpen help. then when you throw on a few terrible plays in the outfield by hamilton or catallanato, it all goes to ****.

I think we have the core for a decent outfield in Hamilton, Bradley and Murphy....and I still like Blalock, and as much as I hate watching Michael Young and his checkswing strikes, he's a keeper. Thus, changes at 2B, 1B and C seem to be in order.

Kinsler just appears lethargic at times and he definitely needs to be hitting in bottom 3rd of line-up. Assuming no call-ups from the minors, I'd try Murphy at leadoff and see what that's like. Michael Young needs to be a more fiery leader damnit.

Hook'em!!!

I am honestly relieved that the Rangers are blacked out of my Directv Extra Innings package in Austin. Made it easier to minimize my emotional attachment to this pathetic franchise.

They might be blacked out on Extra Innings, but you can still watch them on FSSW, right? Maybe today's game wasn't on there though.

since most of you are on the ledge, i thought i'd at least give you some good news to think about.

Why don't you check out what John Danks, Armando Galaragga and E Volquez have done this year. They are like 7-1 with a 2.00 ERA but neither of these 3 ******* guys was good enough to crack our rotation.

Yet another reason we suck is we let every ******* spare retread in baseball sign a 1-2 year deal that we are told is a "low-risk contract with upside". To me that means nobody else wanted their sorry *** so we have to watch Jason Jennings fat *** out there every 5th day instead of letting our young guys take lumps and figure it out.

Why the Rangers suck -
Chris Young and Adrian Gonzalez trade for a few guys that are no longer on the team.
Alfonso Soriana for Brad Wilkerson.
John Danks for Brandon McCarthy.
Lets just hope Hamilton makes the Volquez trade look decent.

I don't think any of our players thought we could compete this year so they don't play with any concentration or passion. Combine that with a player's coach and you get what we have now.

I like our strategy of signing veterans and then trading them mid-season (like Lofton, Gagne, and trying to trade Sosa last year). I doubt that Bradley or even Laird or Benoit are still on the team at the end of the season. I don't see why we don't just put Salty at 1st and have Teagarden be our catcher.

Man, agreed with almost everything that is being said except for I have nothing positive to say about Blalock but that his defense is pretty solid for the most part. Also, Im a little higher on Kinsler because of his potential ability to be a 20 homer, 30 steal guy. However, he is really bad defensively and a liability there most of the time.

Jennings sucks. The bullpen sucks so far this year really badly. Saltalamacchia has to be at least able to hit as well or better than Broussard or Laird. Get the kid some at bats. It is really ****** that we have to trade for McCarthy and sign Jennings rather than pitch Danks and Gallarraga, who was yet another wasted piece of the Soriano trade.

How about this rotation this year::

Kevin Millwood (1-2, 2.53 ERA)
Chris Young (1-1, 4.57 ERA--his #'s will get better)
Vincente Padilla (2-1, 3.12 ERA)
John Danks (2-1, 3.04 ERA)
Armando Gallarraga (2-0 with a 1.50 ERA)

Not that it would matter, b/c if they were with the Rangers, we would surely strike out at key times, not move runners over, not score runners from third with less than 2 outs, and commit several errors (mental, etc) to keep those guys from winning-----see Millwood this year. This whole wait til next year thing has been going on for now 9 years with an almost unwatchable team.

The good news is it makes it really easy to not go and spend money on this team, concessions, or outrageous parking.

****One of my favorite comments was from a recent DMN article that said anytime the Rangers fall under .500, Hicks should drop all prices to half off everything. Only then might he even get people thinking about coming out to the ballpark. The good news is that Hicks et al. raised prices this year again for this crap team.
