The OU Dilemma

HIC,

I realize and had to live through Charlie and Mensa, but Blake set standards in stupidity that will never be equaled, although Mike Locksley sure tried in Albuquerque

Blake had all RBs, no WRs, otherwise Stoops beats us his first year. I do not remember ever seeing a team with more stone-hands than Stoops first team. I'm surprised Mike Leach wasn't committed that year.

Gibbs, Schnellenberger, Blake, and Stoops
I still think Gibbs got hosed by ou. When Switzer was tossed amid the scandal, Gibbs was told "Clean this mess up and get us off the front page - we'll worry about Wins and Losses later." He did exactly what was asked of him - then was fired for losing. Apparently ou fans will forgive rapes and shootings in the dorm and a QB dealing drugs. They'll forgive the coach for sleeping with an assistant's wife and driving the assistant off. What they won't forgive is losing to Texas and Nebraska - so they ran Gibbs out.

Gary Gibbs is a quality human being and a really good coach. He was part of that clean sweep Scott Hill made at Spring Branch HS, which included Gibbs, the Tabor twins, and two more I can't remember now.

OU is just damn lucky that Blake didn't start a racial upheaval in Norman like he tried to do with the Cowboys.

Barely lost to us in '99, and we know about 2000...

Eleventy Big XII Titles later...

I heard that Danny Bonaduce scored some pretty nice tush when groupies came around the Partidge Family set looking for David Cassidy. Unfortunately for our Big 12 brethren, PAC 12 and Big 10 leadership is less hormonal than the hussies seeking celebrity validation. IF BYU didn't join when Texas and OU led the Conference..
It's kinda hard to imagine them wanting into a much diminished grouping.

And yet, I rather enjoyed it when OU gave aggy that 72-0 thrashing ... I wasn't rooting for them, mind you. Just enjoying the spectacle. (like watching two steam locomotives crash into each others, I guess.)

Other than the score typo, couldn’t have said this better myself. My sentiments exactly.
