The Open Championship

Very nice finish by Padraig to win back-to-back. The conditions were brutal, and he managed his game and the course very well, indeed. And it was still a wide-open tournament until about three holes from the end.

norman didn't have it today, and he made some bad decisions along the way, but how many birdie and par putts were an inch or two from falling in this last round as well as the last two holes yesterday? bad luck plus bad decisions usually does not add up to a good round.

about halfway through today i found myself wondering how tiger would have played in these conditions. would he be at or under par and well ahead of the field, or would he have the same issues? then, when the announcers began talking about the same thing but almost handing the trophy to tiger ("the course set up VERY well for him", "wouldn't need the driver and would hit that low stinger most holes") i began feeling glad that tiger wasn't playing.

paddy really held it together and earned the victory. coulter earned it also

I didn't hear the Tiger conversation but I would agree that he would have likely walked away with it. There really wasn't a hole on the course that he would have needed a driver and he could have won it just like he did a couple of years ago. Furthermore, Tiger responds to brutal conditions better than everyone else.

That being said, he could have had one bad day and been out of it too. Padraig is an amazing story, especially considering his injury.

i wouldnt say tiger would have been out of it with one bad day. look at Ernie Els!!

shoots an opening day 80, and ends up shooting a little over par the other 3 days and gets himself a top 10 finish! tied for 7th i believe. incredible.
