Who is the real Dionysus?

dionysus13.jpg

Dionysus, the Greek god of the vine, that invented wine on Mount Nyssa. The son of Zeus and a mortal named Semele. If he chooses he could drive a person mad, also no normal constraints could hold him or his followers.

Dion DiMucci, lead singer of the Belmonts. He also had a successful career as a solo act.

I was going with the first option, but I remembered the times we live in. Not wanting to appear discriminatory in any way, I realized there is a third option. Does our Dion speak French?

Who is the real Dionysus?

Why do we have to choose? As a deity, Dionysus can assume any identity and any profession.
  • In politics, Dionysus was Greek politician Dion of Syracuse in the 5th century bc, Chinese warlord Dian Wei in the late 2nd century, Irish King Diarmait Dian in the late 7th century, Israeli leader Moshe Dayan in the mid-20th century; and Princess Diana in the late 20th century.
  • In the performing arts, he's been popstars Dion DiMucci, Celine Dione, and Dionne Warwick; operatic tenor Deon van der Walt; jazz singer Dione Taylor; and actresses Diane Lane and Diane Keaton.
  • In athletics, he is South African Cricketer Deon Kruis, Australian para-athlete Deon Kenzie, Trinidad and Tobago sprinter Deon Lendore, and Clemson QB recruit Deon Cain. He is most certainly Deion Sanders, and just might be Bo Jackson, too.
  • In his spare time, Dionysus orbits Saturn in the form of the moon Dione.
It's hard to believe he has time to swing by here to post from time to time.

Did your half brother Hercules beat you up and take your lunch money?

Daddy Zeus loved him some mortal women.

Get your Dad full on behind Jordan! Not that he needs any help, but it can't hurt.

Well, Jordan sucked today-even par! Bahaha! Media all over his *** for par. Three more rounds for God's gift to golf! Hook'em Jordan!

doubt he is that worried about it...hell, he is only five shots off the lead, so it isn't like the rest of the field tore the place up. Besides, he seems to like giving the field a one round head start :D:hookem:

Jordan's putter has gone to ****. He left at least 6 shots out there today and is still -1. That **** ain't gonna work much longer. He must have head issues right now-who knows?

It's a major and he will compete hard and played his way back into the tourney with a -5 under round today to get to -6 after 36 holes and a suspension of play till tomorrow. He finished and won't have to come out early in the morning, like several of the leaders.

He left the last two puts one inch short on a dead center cut. Could easily have been a 64 or 65 today. Hope it doesn't bite him in the ***.

If he wins tomorrow, it will be the first time anyone ever won the 3 U.S. Majors in one season. It will go down as one of the most historic and epic years for any golfer.

Yep, the Aussie melted (Jones), what about Day (okay, I thought he was South African)?

Day is Australian.

My dad has met him several times through his involvement with Colonial. Says he is very much a gentleman. Would like to see him break through sometime, just not tomorrow. Prefer to see Spieth make history.

I believe becoming the new #1 golfer in the world is not a bad consolation prize.
Jordan Spieth continues to impress as a great golfer and sportsman and makes all Longhorns proud.

He's reached the summit of his profession at 22 years old.

Day was amazing and he makes great story with the all time below par for a major tournament. What a nice guy. Not to mention the background story. His widowed mother sold her house to get him into a golf school. What an act of love and a gamble (that's really paying off.)
Spieth may have elevated his play to a new plane to come in second. I'm not feeling sorry for him. With the second place money he will move up from 74th on the all-time money winners list to somewhere in the mid 60s. Amazing since most of the guys ahead of him have been playing on the PGA tour for a decade or more.
I give Spieth credit that I even care. I seldom watch golf, but watching Spieth has really brought me around. The level of play and shot making at the majors this year is so outstanding that golf on TV is interesting.

Exactly. The thumbs up he gave Day on the 17th when Jason ran his 40 something foot putt to within two feet, was very classy. Have seen him do it in other tournaments.

Also, if he earns ~$600k more this season he will pass Vijay Singh to become the highest earning pro golfer since the current set-up started.

BTW, saw a great photo of Ellie and Jordan doing the Hook 'em on another site. Don't know where it came from, but it's on their private jet home! Love that guy
