The movie 'Once'

Kidding right?

I watched about 15 minutes of my British Office DVD and had to stop and restart with the subtitles. Gotta get all the flavour and it helps to see what they are saying when they use a bit of odd slang.

Also want to thank the orignal poster. I had that dang movie on the TV upstairs and was ready to send it back after I asked Shortstack if she had ordered it and she told me 'no'. My tiny brain had forgotten that this was the movie that Cogill had HIGHLY recommended on Ward's show and that I had been looking forward to watching it when I put it in queue...

"Falling Slowly" was nominated for the Best Original Song Oscar. Definitely will be the most I've rooted for that category since "Blame Canada" was nominated.

Saw this last night.

Very, very good movie.
And yes that first scene was almost impossible to understand but you do get used to it.
As others have said the music was incredible.
The scene when they first go into that music store and sing that song together was absolutely great. I must buy this soundtrack.

The DVD extras were very interesting too.

Highly recommend this movie.

Is it better than the Pearl Jam song "Once"?

I love that song.

Wife and I watched it this weekend, and loved it. Fantastic characters and a story that pulls you in. I found myself hoping for a different outcome with them.

I agree on the comment above about the first music store scene. It seemed like magic the way her piano accompaniment came together with his playing. The extras on the DVD are interesting as well.

We saw this last night.

I don't even really give two shits about music and I liked it. A lot.

I am so glad that it wasn't Cillian Murphy's spooky *** in that role. It's Hansard (sp?) who made the music and its beautiful that he made that role, too. I would have been a little down on the thing if it hadn't been his name (and hers) on the music credits when they rolled at the end.

Like others on here, my wife downloaded the track as soon as we finished watching.

Just saw this movie last night. This week I saw Once and Juno. These movies are about as perfect as film can get.

"Take this sinking boat and point it home we've still got TIIIIMMMMMEEEE!"

A perfect scene.

This movie reminded me a lot of Before Sunrise. I remember watching that film back in 1995 on campus behind the Union thinking that I had just witnessed something special.

The intimacy in both movies is so well done. Compared to the crap coming out of the major studios (think Gold Rush, MM's latest), its so refreshing.

I was looking up Glen Hansard on the Rolling Stone website to read album reviews of The Frames stuff and saw they recorded Falling Slowly so I searched for it and found it on youtube, it's interesting, has more of a rock feeling to it

I'll check out The Swell season.

The soundtrack isn't bad at all. Many of the songs sound the same, but the few that didn't really irritated me.
