The Masters

tiger putted absolutely terrible this week (esp. on back 9 today) and will still end up in 2nd place. just to imagine if he hadn't missed those two 3 footers today.

Give Trevor credit - the pressure was on, and he handled it. There were several opportunities for him to back up (as Snedeker and the others did), and he played steady - not perfect, but steady - golf. A well-earned victory for the green jacket.

I was really hoping to see Snedeker make a run for it but he just fell apart over the course of his round. Tiger had plenty of chances to keep it close but he never could make a key put, although that one on 14 (maybe?) was oh so close. All in all a decently entertaining Masters but I'm still waiting for another year where it comes down to the wire.

Another 1st time winner. Congrats to Trevor.

Too bad Tiger didn't win but 2nd ain't bad. If he keeps racking those up along with 1 major a year (at least) for the next 4-6 years he will not only have the most majors but be right there in #2 finishes with Jack.

Tiger has now finished 1st or 2nd place 9 times in his last 13 tries....plus throw in a 3rd and 4th place finish....unreal.

That course was playing HARD today. When you have 44 of the best golfers in world and only 2 or 3 of them got under par then you are talking brutal conditions.

At least it wasn't like last year though when a birdie was almost impossible. Tiger made a lot of mistakes today or he would have been there, but Trevor make a HORRIBLE mistake on 16 to keep it close anyway. Still hard to believe he took that path at the hole.

Depends on your definition of boring. It wasn't a nailbiter. But, each shot was pivotal. To think that Tiger played as poorly as he did and finished 2nd probably further proves, if any's needed, what a great golfer he is. I really enjoyed watching it all from beginning to end.

Immelman staked himself to the lead with an outstanding 68-68-69 and then didn't fold today. He had plenty of knee-knockers that could have caused him to collapse, but he stayed the course.

1st the course didn't play as hard as the scores indicate. The wind was a big factor and the course is not responsible for the weather conditions like that. The Sunday pin placement was a big factor in the scoring. Pins were tucked in tight in front of bunkers and the wind often blowing back had guys continually hitting into greenside bunkers. The greens themselves seemed to be fast as well. The pins were also located on very curvy areas of the greens. I continually saw guys hitting these sweeping putts that never really had a chance.

2nd, I didn't think Tiger played poorly. Yes he missed some short putts but the rest of his game was very good. His driver was very reliable. His irons were great but I again I think the wind played into that and the rest of the field had the same issues. He didn't give himself many easy birdie opportunities and that is why he didn't go low. longer putts were more difficult and I saw many a golfer out there misreading the greens completely. Only 4 golfers under par the last round is something. The final pairing was 8 over par combined. Flesch was 6 over par.

Tiger lost b/c he didn't go low enough the 1st 2 rounds. He made up quite a bit of ground the last 2 rounds but it wasn't enough b/c he was so far behind. Putting all week was a problem.

I'll just say that Tiger did great the last 2 rounds to put himself in position to finish 2nd, although it never looked like he actually had a chance to win this one. That is now 13 wins, 5 runner-ups, and a total of 21 top 3 finishes in 51 or so majors played.

Jack played in 163 majors with 18 wins (Tiger 5 back), 19 2nd place finishes (Tiger 14 back), 46 top 3 finishes (Tiger 25 back). Since Tiger has finished #1 or #2 in nine of last 13 majors (70% with 5 wins) he should continue to these gaps.

Remind me never to take wagering advice from damn near every expert on this thread.

It don't make a ****, but I knew Tiger wouldn't win on/after Friday.
