The Incredibles

I know most of you probably don't care too much about The Incredibles but it sured seemed like they set it up for a sequel and I haven't heard anything.

My kids love that show and I enjoyed watching it with them. Anyone know anything on that?

I doubt it.

Pixar is not big on sequels. They were forced by Disney to make Toy Story 2 and they did it because they didn't have as much power at Disney at the time. It was still pretty early.

One of the big worries Pixar had when they were thinking about splitting from Disney was that they were afraid Disney would take all their characters and make a bunch of crappy direct-to-DVD sequels. When they rejoined with Disney they made sure Pixar kept control of those kinds of decisions.

And if Pixar is not big on sequels, Brad Bird the writer/director is even less inclined to make a sequel. I can't remember exactly, but I believe in various DVD commentary tracks from the Simpsons (where he worked before making Iron Giant) and commentaries on his Pixar movies, he has made disparaging remarks about sequels.

Wait till Brad Bird is paying alimony and child support. I bet his attitude on sequels changes.

I'd also like to declare my love for this movie and a desire to see a sequel. I ran across it over Christmas and watched it, sans child. Probably the 3rd time or so I have done that. Sweet flick.

I took my 4-yo daughter to see it in the theater. About halfway through she got scared and said she wanted to go home.

I told her, "No way."

It's one of my favorite movies ever.

Well at least I am not the only one who watches it a lot. I could definitely handle Jack Jack as a teen...lol.

Too bad they don't do sequels because that was a great movie for kids & adults alike.

No, MtR was produced by Walt Disney Animations. While they're not terrible, they are a full notch below Pixar in modern computer-animation, as are basically everyone else.

Pixar's recent run of dominance includes Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars and Ratatouille. Every feature film they've ever produced with Disney distribution (including the Toy Stories, Monsters Inc. & A Bug's Life) has grossed over $360 million. Every film except Cars is above 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Curiously enough, Mike_Tyson, I got onto blu-ray.com and searched for "The Incredibles" and a database for the movie popped up as a search result. There's no release date (yet) but the web site having a page for it implies it's currently developing the BD version of it. That'd be tits.

Cars would have been better off without the romance - somehow, two vehicles falling in love just doens't work too well.

they better make a damn sequel to The Incredibles. one of my favorite movies. i'll be pissed if a sequel is never made.

Cars was a great kids' film. It was not really a great movie.

The Incredibles and Ratatouille were just plain good movies.

I have no shame in liking Cars a lot because I have kids that loved it. But I can see why it's the lowest-rated on a critics' website.

I agree with that Huck. I definitely do not rank it up there with The Incredibles or Ratatouille but I am just surprised that people wouldn't like it. It is a kids movie and Larry the Cable Guy is HILARIOUS.
