The French: Armstrong Violated Doping Rules

Sounds pretty weak, he had just gotten back from a ride and went to take a shower while the paperwork was getting filled out. Still, Lance should know they are out to get him and not put himself in position where they can make an accusation like this, weak as it is.

So some asshat shows up following Lance on a training ride, claims he is a rep of the French government, has some weak looking papers, and Lance's people don't buy it-so Lance goes ahead and takes a shower, and then co-operates after a few phone calls where they figure out the guy is really who he says he is.
This creates a big stink in France. What else is new?
What if some papperazi shows up with some phony papers and asks for some blood and hair and tissue samples?
Where does this all end?
How many groups are going to ask for samples-there's two or three cycling groups, now French government goons.

It's beyond weak. In the time frame since Armstrong's return to competitive cycling, most riders have been tested 3-4 times max, while this latest test was (I believe) number 24 for Lance. Bruyneel called a spade a spade referring to it as a witch hunt.

Regarding the incident itself, Armstrong was not uncooperative. The AFLD tester was waiting for them (LA & Johan) when they returned from a training ride. Armstrong made the tester wait for him to get a quick shower and change of clothes. From that point on, the collection of the various samples was by the book. This is a case of the tester being furious that Armstrong made him wait and they're making a big deal about what may have happened during the time Armstrong was showering. (like administering his super dope-masking agent engineered by Armstrong's cronies at the nefarious Bristol-Myers Squibb) I'm sure there are at least a dozen other laughable conspiracy theories floating around about what was happening while the tester was made to wait.

The story reeks of desperation and obsession. Hope Lance lets this ******** burn in real good and turns it into more motivation to go off this summer.

What a bunch of a-holes. They test him every other day. If I were Lance I'd make them wait all f'ing day. He has been tested more than any other athlete EVER and has never tested positive. Geez these people are obsessed.

Never has anyone been tested more than Lance in sports and the results have always been clean. At his age the French must be worried he could still win the tour again.

If they keep this up and he does get into the race I'd be willing to lay money on him to win. That is one determined dude broken bones or not.

Lance has proclaimed that they didn't know the French government would be doing testing like this. That is why they had to verify the tester's credentials and make sure everything was on the up and up. What I want to see the French show is that they notified these athletes they would be performing these random tests. If so then Lance and Co should have expected this to happen at some point....especially since he knows 'The french are out to get him'.

He did pass the test which is great news. Also I want to know if the tester told Lance that if he left his site and went inside his residence before allowing the tester to complete the testing process that this would cause him to 'fail' the test no matter the result.

Don't give them ideas. We will find out that Lance is doping and that he is a Giraffe or any other animal at the Zoo they take urine from to claim it was his.

I really fear this will end badly, either with Lance being banned from the event, charged with some bogus crime, or attacked and injured on the course itself.

Lance Armstrong is a douchebag. The only difference between he and Barry Bonds is that Bonds doesn't pretend to be a good guy when there's cameras around...

And Barry Bonds doesn't raise millions of dollars for cancer research. So there's that difference as well.

The people on this thread think that that counts for something: The Link

No, I can back up some of the stories about him from his Plano training days. Just because he gives a lot of money to cancer doesn't mean he's allowed to be a jerk.

And when you also consider that pretty much every last teammate he's had in the Tour has tested positive for something since Lance won his first one, there has to be some half-truth in there somewhere.

I was also one of those people who lambasted the Frenchies for thinking he was cheating, but in the recent years since Landis, more and more has been made known about the process.

Almost every professional cyclist I have met has been cocky. In fact, this is true of many professional athletes. I haven't met Lance, but it wouldn't surprise me if he were cocky. And with as much as he has been in the limelight, it also wouldn't surprise me that a few fans had their feelings hurt and talk about him being a jerk. It comes with the territory.

I have met Barry Bonds and he was a jerk. I have a niece who has met him about 100 times and she thinks he is a jerk as well. Surprisingly, she doesn't say that about the others who worked out in the same Gym. Further, I have a family friend who is in baseball management in the Bay Area and he didn't have nice things to say about Barry Bonds either.

There was a great thread about Lance last year. I think it was H20 who had some interesting comments about him and his comeback.

I will point out that this latest French issue is due to the French Cycling authorities really sucking. It has nothing to do with whether Lance is currently doping. The 24 negative tests for him verses about 3 for other riders speaks for itself. The rest is just speculation.

Ummm ... I know.

And Landis was one of the teammates I was referring to in the aforementioned post.

Some things that I think to be true, but have absolutely no proof.

1) Lance has never tested positive.
2) Nearly all top riders (and many NOT top riders) were doping.
3) In order to keep up with dopers, you have to do SOMETHING! Even if you're the best in the world.
4) If you couldn't keep up with Lance and contribute as a domestique, you weren't going to be part of the Blue Train.
5) Lance was the only person in the entire pro tour who could pick and choose his events. (And since he didn't have to "always be 'up'", he could siphon off his own blood.)
6) I think Lance doped with his own blood.
7) The fact that the French haven't been able to catch Lance really pisses them off.
8) There are oodles of reports of Lance being a cockmunch.
9) Lance has one ball.
10) Lance's foundation has raised millions of dollars for cancer research and cancer awareness.
11) Barry Bonds is a different type of league than Lance. From semi-admitting to 'roids (flaxseed oil) to testing positive to being a surly mofo for over 15 years to not raising money for cancer research.
12) Comparing Barry & Lance is ridiculous.
