The First 100 days

So Q anon is roughly the right wing equivalent of antifa: a bunch of potentially violent losers who provide embarrassment to the majority of the people in their respective ideology. Got it.

Antifa is way more main stream. They have a physical and political presence on the West Coast. This is an attempt by the Left to create bilateral symmetry between their movement and the Right.

Have left wing politicians done things to acknowledge antifa like this:

Bubba. You are so behind.

Mayors of West Coast cities and cities with large universities in other areas of the country have told police to stand down as Antifa beats people and damages private property. People who fight with them more frequently get thrown in jail.

But all you are concerned with is something Trump said that can be construed as supporting an inconsequential group who may some day commit some act of violence.

Get your priorities straight dude.

I want a repeal of all gun laws that prohibit me from owning automatic weapons.
I want the tax code changed to a flat 10% for everyone.
I want a big *** wall between US and Mexico
I want Obama care gone
I want more prisons and the prison system to go back to the days of hard labor.
Finally and most important I want to get rid of all these stupid enviromental laws that are killing our corporations. Let the Oil flow freely.

I have long held that the state of our economy is like the government is playing Monopoly where they are the banker and just taking (or in this case printing) money as they need it. If that is the case then why do we even need taxes.

Our monitory system is not based on the gold standard, it's based on our GNP, I used to worry about paying off the national debt, but then I realized, it will never be paid off. We will keep printing money and making it deeper and deeper until we are overwhelmed or we print a 10 trillion dollar bill and pay it off.

I respect your views. Elaborate?

How are we going to fund Social Security and Medicare while FICA is zeroed out? To my knowledge, we're not suspending those programs. As structured now, we would fund them through federal income taxes, because they're guaranteed through the full faith and credit of the United States. However, we don't raise enough money to do that, so we're going to fund that programs entirely by deficit spending.

How's that going to look? We're already borrowing about $1T this year. How much would it add to add Social Security and Medicare for eight months? Combined, they cost about $1.7T. Just doing the basic arithmetic, that means adding about $1.2T to the $1T we're already borrowing. We've fallen a long way from being the party that used to complain about Obama's $1T deficit and used to push for the Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment. If we do this, we have no friggin credibility to complain about the deficit again. In the Trump era, we don't have much anyway.

Please, let's refer to them as "justice involved individuals" that have been unfairly persecuted by the military justice system because of their color and religious beliefs. There are a hugely disproportionate amount of brown Muslims in prison for terrorist activities when compared to white supremacist terrorists and Christians, which is clearly indicative of racism.

All we need to do to lower the cost is add another 12% of our income in taxes paid to the government to cover healthcare, and then add 3 or 4 months of waiting time for treatment needed. Then we can be like the U.K., which is doing its part to move away from national healthcare to private healthcare.

When Deez, Jr. was born in Germany, my wife had a surgery (c-section) and was hospitalized for a full week. Furthermore, I had a bed in her hospital room. It wasn't a ********. It was a nice hospital in Wiesbaden (and expensive and wealthy city), and she was treated by the head of the obstetrics department and the head of the nursing department. Deez, Jr. was monitored by the head of the pediatrics department. In other words, it was the most expensive way to get treated.

The total bill for all of that was €3,120.00 (about $4,000 at the time - about $3,500 now). And that's not with government money involved. It was a private hospital with private doctors and paid for with private health insurance. (I actually paid it out of pocket and then got reimbursed, but you get the point. It was cheap.)

I definitely agree on a long term basis. I think Trump realizes this virus literally could wipe out the US economy quickly. Hospitals could be shut down for months over this hysteria. The ripple effect would be massive to other industries.

As for funding SS and Medicare, it is unsustainable as is. However neither party will deal with it until it breaks.

If that's the case, then I'm not sure what this will do to solve the problem. My understanding is that the big economic costs are coming from people being unable to safely go out in public - whether it's to work, travel, shop, etc. That's a pretty unique economic problem because it has nothing to do with money, and I'm not sure how the tax relief does much for it. Obviously I'll be happy to have more money in my pocket and I'm generally a tax cutter, but if there's a real health hazard, it's not going to change my economic behavior to have that money.

I agree. I'm just skeptical of making that problem over a trillion dollars worse.

The Taliban guys were arrested for fighting against US troops in Afghanistan, not attacking them or civilians in the US/Western Hemisphere.

The second they come over here to do us harm, their lives are forfeit. Doubt that is going to be an issue.

Another day, another Trump win before the SCOTUS. In a case that SHOULD NEVER HAVE MADE IT TO THE SCOTUS IN THE FIRST PLACE, the Court found (with only one dissent) the Trump administration can continue to enforce the “Remain in Mexico” policy which makes illegal aliens who apply for asylum in the US remain in Mexico until their hearings.

The underlying case on the merits will still proceed but the Supremes lifted the injunction issued by the District Court which would have gone into effect this week. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals had affirmed the injunction which, once again, which brings up the question of what are we supposed to do with these courts who consistently ignore the Constitution and breach Separation of Powers with rulings like this which are so obviously attempts to substitute judgement for that of the democratically elected head of the Executive Branch? If it happened once or twice it would not be something to notice. But here, all I am sure would agree we have a clear and deliberate pattern.

Trump is now considering invoking the Immigration and Nationality Act to restrict non-essential travel from coronavirus areas to the US

Please God no bailouts!

Cruise Lines = NO!
Hotels = I say no
Airlines = I say they require a different analysis.
What if the Chinese virus ends up causing all native airlines to file Chapter 11 (something that is possible as of today)? Would you change your mind then?
If not that, what if all US-based airlines were bought out of Chapter 11 by non-US interests? Leaving not a single US carrier owned by a US-based corporation (something that is possible as of today)? Would that change your mind?
If not that, what if all US-based airlines filed for Chapter 7 instead? Clearing the field for China Air to become the primary US carrier? Do you think you would, at that point, look back and wish we had bailed out the US-based carriers? Or would you just happily accept China Air as the national airlines of the United States?

The question of when to pile back is a tricky one

You are absolutely correct. I went from 67% exposed to market down to 50% a few weeks before the virus hit the US. I wish now I was more aggressive in reducing my exposure. Anyway, I was smart to reduce the part that I did, but that is only half the story. The next issue is when to get in with the 50% I have available. If I wait too long, I gain little.

Wow, maybe brown Muslims should stop being terrorist and they won't be in prison. Here is the thing, when a white supremacist commits a crime they go to prison too. When a Christian commits a crime they go to jail. Know how I know this, because our prison is littered with people who profess Christianity as their religion.

In fact, a quick search revealed that of the entire prison population 28% are protestant and 24% are Catholic with less the 1% being Muslim.

Post less, it will make you look smarter.
