The First 100 days

"excluding Indians not taxed." - That implies to me that persons who do not pay taxes to the government are not counted. Since illegals don't file income taxes, why do we count them? Doesn't make sense to me.

I don't think we will ever get another constitutional amendment passed. So I'll just shut up and accept that states like Mexifornia will have an undue influence on our government from here on.

Do they avoid sales, excise and payroll taxes too? Income tax is only 1 type of tax. An illegal immigrant doesnt get a federal refund on those taxes.

If illegals work off the books they do not pay payroll taxes. Even if they use a fake ID they are typically at the lower end of wages so their income and FICA taxes are minimal.
Sales tax, yes but again if they are at the lower end of wages they won't be huge consumers .We know they send billions in remittances, money not spent here.

Yes, many work for cash. Landscapers are the best example. Get past the small businesses paying under the table and they are most assuredly getting payroll taxes withheld, billions$. In my locality we pay 10% sales tax. I was in TJ Maxx a few weeks back and either there were a lot of foreign-born vacationers in a long line or many immigrants consume like Americans.

The original point is that taxes are unavoidable in the US. Legal/illegal, rich/poor, and young/old are all paying taxes. Any attempt to claim otherwise is ignorant of our federal, state and local tax policies.

Remittance...that has nothing to do with taxes.

No one here has ever said illegals do not pay any tax. Nice attempt to deflect.
Remittances have to do with taxes simply because those dollars are sent out of the country instead of staying here and being spent here which would result in taxes.
We subsidize the illegals in many ways so they have billions to send out of the country.

Well unless you think the illegals would save the billions if they did not send in remittances. :idk:

Thus the citation on this thread. It's generally cited in tandem with the idea that only net federal income taxpayers should be able to vote.

That point has been raised here, but this was about whether illegal aliens should be counted in the census. I tried to explain why that would be unconstitutional (because of the 14th Amendment that refers to untaxed Indians), but that descended into tirades on how little illegal immigrants pay in taxes (which has friggin' nothing to do with anything), and yada, yada, yada, the original point got lost.

Told you!

President Donald Trump boasted Tuesday that the nation’s military leaders are “thrilled” that he’s trotting out a dazzling display of troops, tanks, helicopters and fighter jets for his personal Independence Day celebration.

But multiple former military leaders are publicly expressing dismay, calling it the latest example of Trump politicizing the armed services.

The annual public festivities and fireworks display on the National Mall scheduled for Thursday are being overtaken by Trump's "Salute to America" event, which is shaping up to feature a prominent role for the military.

"This looks like it’s becoming much more of a Republican Party event — a political event about the president — than a national celebration of the Fourth of July, and it’s unfortunate to have the military smack dab in the middle of that,” said retired Army Lt. Gen. David Barno, who commanded U.S. troops in Afghanistan under President George W. Bush.

“The president is using the armed forces in a political ploy for his reelection campaign and I think it’s absolutely obscene,” added retired Army Maj. Gen. William Nash, a veteran of Vietnam, the Gulf War and peacekeeping operations in the Balkans.

I feel the same way. Every time a Lib President set a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery, or strapped the Medal of Honor around someone's neck, I was just disgusted at their politicization of the military. I mean REALLY, the Commander-in-Chief of the military proudly supporting and honoring the troops is just disgusting beyond belief!

I'm tepid on the military parade. Historically, it has generally been held incident to some major military operation or victory though some inaugurals have had military parades. A July 4th celebration usually isn't considered big enough of a deal and not associated specifically with the military.

Having said that, is it something to crap our pants about? No.

for his personal Independence Day celebration.

His? I’m sure you meant to say “America’s Independence Day Celebration.” It’s for all of us unless you choose to make it about one person.

I guess we don’t need anymore flyovers at sporting events either.

IIRC there was military action before and assuredly after Independence Day so why the faux uproar about militarization ?

But, because TRUMP!!! All the libs are crapping their pants anyway.

Nah, just reveling in the hypocrisy of those who claim to support federal government frugality. $2.5M (that we know of) additional funds diverted from the National Park Service for Trump's desired military parade, spawned from witnessing Bastille Day celebrations in Paris.

I'll be spending the day with my family on the beaches of Oregon.

For the same reason you couldn't care less about the additional costs of the celebration. Pure partisan hypocrisy.
Not really. Entitlement spending on Medicare and SS is the cause of deficits, not the other stuff. I say raise the payroll tax. It taxes most everyone, which is the proper since those entitlements help most everyone.

POTUS’ claims Continental army capturing British colonial airports would certainly be something to crap your pants about, if it were true. No?

By the end of his first term, President Trump is on pace to fill ~30% of all federal judgeships in the US

Can you imagine if this were Hillary doing this instead?

No, not capturing them would, however. Fortunately we took the them down with our pipe hitting continental soldiers.

Our POTUS is an idiot. We all knew the primary reason for the census question. The Justice and Commerce dept tried to make up other reasons for the question, the SCOTUS called BS then DJT opens his trap to remove all doubt. Though I appreciate his tranparency, its embarrassing to have him as my POTUS.
