In terms of Transfer Portal value, Parker Braun did not provide nearly as much as the guy from Rice did.

there's nothing with which to disagree, yo. This is what I thought and I was wrong ... gonna hafta suffer through a couple more mediocre years to get another shot.

I think the time for football to matter is coming to a swift close ... not many games were played in the early 40s. A similar effect is about to happen.

I forgot to mention Braun. I wanted to redshirt him in order to get him a year under his belt of learning how to pass protect. Looking back, i think I was probably right, however, we really didn't have the depth I thought we had to do this. We sucked with him, probably sucked more without him.

You predicting WWIII? Football for us as a culture is like the gladiator games were to the Romans in their day. A distraction from what is happening around them. I think the economics of sports is about to change drastically over the next decade. The disconnect between the sport and the fans is becoming wider and wider, we have too many other distractions, fewer people are willing to pay for TV or go to games. I blame the hippies.

LOL ... naw, this goes a bit beyond the Hippies, but it DOES involve their oft-stated retort "peace, man"

I believe our collective ability to even engage these events like (collegiate) sports is about to close rapidly. Yes, a major conflict is immanent ... and out of that will be apparent peace ... for 7 years. but not really.

Yes ... the End of Times is upon us ... just as The Eyes of Texas. Til Gabriel Blows His Horn ... Gabriel is warming up. He's "on stage" just waiting for the curtain to draw. Between now and the summer of '22, a 7 year "world peace" deal will be "confirmed" ... but it won't last. (not just a cease fire, mind you, a reorganization of government into a single entity.)

Wish I could be more specific ... but it doesn't matter about me. It only matters about the turn of events and whether you've accepted, believed, and confessed Jesus Christ is Lord ... personally.

Eating crow about UT football will be the least of anyone's concerns ... even the (then) head coach.

People have been predicting the end of times as long as I can remember. I personally will not hold my breath, if it happens, there is nothing I can do about it.

As far as being saved goes. I remember having a discussion with a guy who would proclaim that he was a warrior for God. I countered that God has a whole host of angels and didn't need us to be his warriors, he needed us to be teachers and examples to our brothers about who Jesus was and what he can do for our lives. He wanted me to know that when the SHTF he was going to war to kill the heathens. I reminded him that if he lives by the sword he would die by it. Jesus words not mine.

He's commanded us to bear witness. So I am. Obedience AND desire.

I'm not "Hale Bopping" ... but if one believes the Bible, one must also acknowledge Christ's Second Coming is as real as first.

I'm acknowledging that God is of order, not chaos, and while neither the Day nor the Hour is known ... the season can, and is expected to be ... known.

Anyhow ... didn't intend to hijack the thread, just that the crow eating lent itself to acknowledging this. I had to replace the joist in a 17 year old pole barn on our place ... water had seeped under the corrugated iron and rotted the board. I placed a "treated" 2x6 there figuring that'd be the last one if it lasted as long as the first one! ;)

My crow comes from the pre-season prediction. I thought a 10-2 was dead on target, maybe a 11-1 with a W over ou and at worst 9-3 with losses to LSU, OU and one other late score by an opponent most likely KSU. Didn't see losses to TCU, ISU and Baylor at all. Wasn't too concerned about the injuries early on, but they kept piling up. So, I'll take my crow sauteed with mushrooms and onions with a serving of mashed potatoes on the side.

If you apply the parable of the 10 foolish Virgins and the Bride groom, you should always be prepared and not have to worry about the hour because no matter when it is, you will be ready.

What does it mean to be ready? Ready spirtually, ready physically? I'm guessing both, but how is one ready physically?

... but I think it was 5 wise and 5 foolish. I'd have to refer ... but you're right, the lesson is BE READY. keep extra oil ... which I understand to be which answers your question ... spiritually; be "read up" (abide in The Word of God, The Holy Bible) "prayed up" pray without ceasing and in faith ... ... ... FILLED UP ... with God's Holy Spirit.

Physically ... I'm not sure that's a factor beyond the standing responsibility to be a steward of the Holy Spirit's 'temple.' For we will be changed in an instant ... right? The glorified body as some call it ... one without breakdowns or susceptibility to disease.

The reason I say the season is to be known is because Christ spoke of it in the same familiar passage which is cited "no man knows the day nor the hour." Matt 24. He used the fig tree as an example. "you will know, then, ... "

If that isn't enough ... and it is ... The Bible gives at least 3 other examples of God's providing a specific year to mark the end of a period; 120 years for Noah and the Flood, 40 years Moses and the Israelites wandering in the wilderness, 70 years Jeremiah was told the Israelites would be in Babylonian captivity.

oh ... a 4th ... By Jesus' own words about the destruction of Herod's Temple ... "... not a stone here will be left unturned." The 1st gen church was able to decipher the value of 40 from that statement ... made in 30 AD ... 70 AD the Romans destroyed the Temple ... and no Believer was harmed because they LEFT TOWN.

IDK how "leaving town" is manifest in The Last Days, but I have an entire array of references for the miraculous events which will be occurring in that period. Would be happy to continue via email ... as I feel like I've added much to an ON The Field thread which belongs elsewhere.

Thanks for the question. I don't have all the answers, btw ... but it's being increasingly revealed as the search continues.

I'm here to take my beating and happily eat my crow. No OC and no DC didn't seem to matter. This was domination from start to finish. I should know better than to bet against bowl game Tom.

1) Utah was playing short-handed like Georgia last year. *
2) Utah was not interested after losing out on the play-offs like Georgia last year. *
3) TEXAS KICKED THEIR *** !!!!!!!
A. Because we didn't play with 3 down linemen
1. We stunted and didn't merely bull rush every down
2. We contained and took better angles to the ball
B. We didn't blitz late from 10 yards off the ball
C. We didn't run BS plays like Sam stammering around looking for a place to run
D. We played like we were freaking being coached to play football
Where was that all season ? If Orlando hadn't decided to mess with his experiental 3 man drop 8 defense, and Herman hadn't tried to protect Sam all year we could have been in a play-off game this year. ( Yes injuries were a big issue, but if we had come to play every game like a well coached team, like tonight, we would have won the conference title and played in the play offs.

The biggest surprise of this game was that we dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage. I knew we had the hands guys to dominate their DBs and we had the DBs to play their receivers. I didn't think we could dominate their oline and dline.

This season was huge for Utah, it is going to pay big dividends in about 3 years when the recruits they got become redshirt sophomores and juniors. They have the lines to be great, now they are getting the hands guys to take them to the next level.

Now I'm hoping we can turn the tide on Alfred Collins and Princely Umanimen. Maybe pick up someone who was inspired by what we can be.

This was a game to build on, lets up we can now take the next step. By my count we have 8 starters returning on both offense and defense. Add to that the maturation of some of the younger guys and maybe we can win the conference.
 
I was emotionally detached on this one ... but I DID still watch the entire game despite needing to be usefully conscious at 0430 on NYD.

Perhaps we need Herman as the OC .... and a new HC.

IDK who called the defense, but they generally did a very good job.
