is quite possibly the dumbest football play I've ever seen. Don't argue about whether or not the punter was actually touched. A full on punt return is the only sane call in that situation. It's plays like this that give me pause about Sark. Simply mind numbing. TCU was begging you to take the momentum.

Agreed.
Just get the ball back to the offense.
Sits right up there with Mack rushing the punter in the conference championship against Colorado.
We had the momentum and the penalty killed all chance of winning.

The defense had just gotten a huge stop at that juncture. Texas was getting the ball back and had an opportunity to make it happen. But NOOOO!
Surrounded by my dogs, they wondered wtf was wrong with me!!

agree 100% - just wasn't any way shape or form a smart football decision - another area that is a major concern about Sark along with his inability to make offensive adjustments when a team stacks the line of scrimmage, going all out to stop the run

Yep.....on one play TCU brought what looked like 12 guys.....yes 12 I believe, I counted twice but no matter..call it 11...up...and w plenty of play clock time they stuck with the called play a delayed run right up the gut for a loss of 1 or two.

And they continued to try to run Bijan off tackle right in spite of the fact that tcu devoted 2/3 of the team for the night to stopping that particular play.

I was so mad about it at the game (and we were right there in the NEZ where it happened)…but in retrospect, our offense was impotent and it was SO close…it could have been a game changer

I didn’t expect our defense could get another stop after that…(and clearly they didn’t)…but was just one of those gambles that didn’t work out

There was absolutely no contact. Punter flopped and refs fell for it. You can argue we were too aggressive but that we did not rough the punter.

It so reminded me of 2001 that I had flashbacks especially since twice earlier in the game they all but roughed the kicker and got away with it. I get that the ST coach saw something on film but it wasn't happening in the game and you have to make that adjustment.

Can't find video, but that was a straight up flop. I was mad when they called it, but heck, if it fooled all of ya'll I guess props to the punter.
