No hornfan reviews yet? I'm sure some of you went to the midnight showing. Got my tickets for Monday night at the IMAX so I'm pumped but just curious what you guys think

I was a 100% fanboy dork loser and saw it at 6am this morning on IMAX. It rocked, and I think most people will agree that it lived up to the hype.

Also, there isn't a single scene involving the Joker where you will not be totally creeped out. That is one thing in which I will agree with the critics - Heath Ledger portrays a seriously sick ****.

Any guesses on what they will bring in this weekend? I'm sure it will probably be the biggest opening ever for a non holiday weekend.

EDIT: Just reported that it just set a record for a midnight viewing at $18.6 million. This doesnt even include the 3am and 6am shows. Damn.

The daughter"treated" me to the midnight:01 show in Pflugerville last night.

Very good, very intense, with just enough "light", even funny, parts to intensify the "dark" parts. And not your typical "Hollywood" movie.

Bad - It was kinda long, but it almost had to be. Part of that feeling might have been realted to the fact that it was pretty late).

Aaron Eckhart and Heath Ledger [RIP] were both very good. Bale, of course, was great. Couple of surprises.

Didn't like Maggie Gyllenhaal much. But her part was somewhat minor. I actually liked Katie Holmes from the last movie better in that role.

At least we don't have to worry about her reprising the role.

And I wish they hadn't killed off the Harvey Dent/Two-Face character, would have been a perfect lead-in to the third movie...

I just got back from a noon showing. Great movie, it definitely lived up to the hype.
Any accolades heaped upon Heath Ledger are well deserved. At one point, my instinctual fear response kicked in and I got very nervous, skin got prickly and I started to sweat. In a movie for crying out loud. That’s how completely creepy and frightening The Joker is in this.

The only thing it leaves you wanting is a third installment.

In my defense, I left the Batman mask at home, and I proceeded to go to work after the film and not to my "BatBlog" that I run out of my mom's basement. I just felt a little geekish being a grown man and seeing a movie with a bunch of kids and teenagers and "comic book guy" types at 6 in the morning. Whatever, it was worth it, and ran me $16 (IMAX prices + fandango surcharge).

It was excellent.

I'll write my review when I have time.

I agree with being creeped out by Ledger's portrayal of the Joker. He came off as a genuinely scary villain. He did an awesome job of just inspiring fear whenever he was on screen.

It is one of the best movies I have ever seen in a long time.

yup. pretty fantastic. it's awesome to be able to laugh at and fear a character at the same time. Ledger was amazing. As was, really, everyone else...with the slight exception of Gyllenhaal. She was good...but not able to rise to the standard of the rest.

Brilliant film

One of the best movies I have seen in a LONG time. I am gonna go see again in IMAX at some point pretty soon I hope.

Heath Ledger was absolutely brilliant. And frankly I thought the writing for him was much better than it was for Nicholson - his lines, his motivation, pretty much everything he did, they absolutely nailed.

Last hour was unbelievably great. Heath Ledger stole the show...what a psychopath!

First hour and half was ok but it felt a little choppy with the pacing and editing...a tad boring at times.

it definitely lived up to the hype. when they were saying it's not just one of the best superhero movies ever, it's one of the best crime drama movies ever, they were right.

and i really thought all the talk of heath ledger receiving a posthumous oscar was nonsense. boy was i wrong. just a flat out amazing performance every time he was on screen. he makes hannibal lecter look like someone you would want to babysit your kids.

I went in with high expectations and it surpassed it. Fantastic movie. I usually wait a couple of months before watching these blockbuster type movies, but it was a free ticket and this was worth it. Very good movie.

I went to the midnight showing Thursday night as well. As with everybody else I have to agree with the Joker stealing the show. What an amazing role.

This is not your typical comic book movie though. It is VERY dark and leaves you with an uneasy feeling rather than the typical Hollywood uplifting one.

Lost in all the reviews thus far was just how genius Christopher Nolan is.

Liked it a lot. Have to admit that Bale's raspy whisper grates after a while.

I especially liked the setting -- Chicago filled in as a great Gotham and suggested more realism than your typical CG CIty. No monorails at 300 feet nonsense here. It was very well done.

I knew Nolan was something special when I saw Memento...

I get where you are coming from when you say Batman's voice gets annoying, but it makes sense for him to disguise it. If he is just talking like Bruce Wayne then someone will notice. Plus if you were in the criminals shoes and Batman has a hold of you and is kicking your ***, that voice would scare the **** out of you.

My friend was also convinced that two-face was still alive but I just can't see it. They were having a funeral at the end with Harvey Dent's picture blown up in the background.

He could be locked away in an insane asylum. Remember that they wanted to preserve the image of Harvey Dent so the funeral could've been a big show to cement the white knight image.

I liked it a lot. The guy (From "In the Company of Men") who played Harvey Dent was great too. The Hong Kong Scenes were awesome as well.

To be critical for the sake of, well being critical, I am frustrated with blockbuster movies that have to cram as many plot twists as possible to keep viewers guessing. The latest Indiana Jones was terribly guilty of this, to the point where it just came out muddy. Pirates of the Carribean 3 wasn't just muddy, it was confusing to the point where you couldn't even just sit back and watch the pretty CG blue screen stuff and sub par acting, it just made it so I couldnt wait to get out of the theater. Think about even The Departed... the movie was overdone with so much surprises that when it was finished, I forgot who had done what and who was bad/ good/ whatever. It's as if they are making movies intended for people to watch 2nd or 3rd times, even talk to their friends or read critics reviews to make sense of all the stuff they crammed into a 2-3 hour flick.

I understand that movies try and be complex, but to me you can't just throw massive quantities of curveballs to achieve the same effect that a movie such as the Crying Game achieves with just one massive one.

***Spoiler Alert***The stuff with Harvey Dent being burned and the girl getting killed, even the police chief faking his death, and the wife being mad at Batman, his kid being affected... THis stuff was totally relevant, but could have been done better with more time. It was already 2 1/2 hours, so perhaps the Two Face sub plot could have been given it's own movie entirely, which probably happens anyways. For this reason I give the Dark Knight an A-, as it was awesome, but it felt like Godfather l and ll being crammed into just one tightly packed and underdeveloped film.
