St. Arnold does some nice stuff. My brother in law was their brew master for a while. Their lawn mower kolsh was the beer he home brewed for my nephew's christening party. I really love their Christmas ale.
I'm having a Winter Stout now. Not bad. Probably my favorite St. Arnolds. It's not much darker than some brown ales in color, definitely thin and light for a stout. Easy drinking.
As an update, a friend and I had the last two Burried Hatchet Stouts after a round of golf last weekend. I seemed to like it better and it got his approval too. Maybe I'll give it another shot. I thought it would really over power after the Coors Light on the golf course, but it left me wanting another.
I also had the Booklyn Chocolate Stout during the MNC game. After a couple of Shiners at dinner, my taste buds were off, but it sure tasted good. I let a buddy taste it. He said it tasted like a shot and at 10% alcohol he might be right. It's off to Spec's to get some more.
the southern star...the one that comes in a can. that's pretty good stuff.
otherwise, I def like the fireman's 4 and rio blanco pale ale.
the guys at Live Oak def know what they're doing. they brew to specific style and don't cater to American tastes. that said, they're busines model hasn't been really solid. whatever though.
I used to like some of that yellow rose beer from SA. they certainly had the coolest art on their beer bottles.
the st. arnold's is usually good. the kristal weizen is crisp. i also like the xmas ale.
shiner? shiner? are you sure you don't like ziegen bock better?
