The annointing has begun

Miami 2001: 42
Texas 2005: 24

And I say with all due respect to a great Texas team and the fact they had VY.

That Miami team had NFL STARS up and down the roster.......

USC looks great but let us not forget there is not another team in the PAC 10 that could finish higher than fourth or maybe fifth in the Big XII south.

While USC is damn good, don't forget that Big Game Pete has lost 2 little games each of the last couple of years (Stanford, Ore. St., etc.)

Also, while the 2008 defense is probably better than 2005, the offense in 2005 was much better.

Maybe we should start calling Carroll Coach February. The old "give him a month to prepare and he can stop anyone" moniker sure doesn't apply any more.

... and that's all Ah got to say 'bout that.

i don't get the usc hate on this board.
they are pretty damn good and well deserving of a #1 and the hype after de-pantsing ohio state.

I might have misunderstood, but I think someone earlier referred to Virginia as good. This year's Virginia.

I hope I misread that.

Virginia is not very good but probably better than Cincinnati which you would think would be a top 10 team after reading some of the OU fans' posts.

One thing the 2005 Texas team did that the 2001 Miami cannot claim is that the Texas beat the greatest team in the history of the world, so they got that going for them, which is nice.

SC's defensive front is off the charts. I'm still not that impressed with Sanchez. I think there are a number of QB's in the Big 12 that are better.
