Texas vs USC 12/18/2022

9-0 with a net ranking of 33. Resume building game. Should be fun. They do play UCLA tonight so I expect them to lose.
Agreed!.. Also another chance to test and teach against a well-coached opponent. The newcomers need all the reps of this nature they can get, especially in the backcourt. They better get used to getting swarmed every time Rori has to sit.

Looks like they were only 5-12 last season in conference play.
They may be 9-0 so far, but it looks like their schedule is even easier than Mulkey's. Their opponents' net ranking is 278 out of 361. Our opponents avg. net is 52. We need to spank them.

Also, before Beard likely coached is last game, I saw him on his coach's show encouraging fans to come see MBB play Stanford at noon. I thought he'd say "and be sure to stick around for the WBB game as they play USC at 2:30pm", but he never mentioned the women's game. If fans would stick around, we could have a nice crowd for the game. But I'm not sure anyone with the men's team is promoting the women's game?

Not sure, I haven't heard any but I wouldn't expect too much out of them right now. They are in a bit of disarray at the moment.

Thanks much for the USC stats.

Destiny Littleton (former Longhorn) is a starter for USC averaging 30 mins, 14 pts and 4 assists per game. By far her best stats in her 5 year playing career.

For me, I really wish they would de-couple the games because I just bought my ticket and can't make it to the men's game. For fans whose primary goal was to see the men's game, hopefully they'll stick around on a 'free' ticket.

Wait. What? I thought she transferred to and played for South Carolina???? She still has eligibility?

Yes I think this is her final year (not sure) but yes she transferred to the Women of Troy this season. Smart move she probably wasn’t going to get a lot of playing time with So Carolina’s depth. Also the pics I saw a few months ago she was really looking the fittest I’ve ever seen her

I went to the games in Las Vegas last year. I was very disappointed in the attendance at the women’s game. Not that many hung around. Maybe they couldn’t wait to get back to the casinos

USC played UCLA a close game last night. I watched some of the beginning and UCLA wasn't playing well at all... nothing like the team I watched win the tournament in The Bahamas a few weeks ago.

Could be a function of this being a rivalry game too, but yes, it looks like we've got a good opponent for Sunday and need to play well and get the W. Hopefully, we'll have a nice home court advantage too. I really hope a lot of the MBB fans stick around and support the program.

Well, I don't know if Dallas gives us home court advantage, but at least we won't have to endure leaking roofs, busing to another location, etc. I think Hadi's play in the last game has bolstered my belief that we'll prevail against USC. Especially if DeYona and Rori stay out of foul trouble.

Rori staying out of foul trouble is key. I’m sure she and Vic know that. Problem is, so does USC.
USC is well-coached... we all know Lindsey Gottlieb is a good one, plus she has Beth Burns as AHC who had HC gigs at Ohio State and San Diego State (we remember all too well). She also served on the Louisville staff with Walz. Then there's Nneka coaching the bigs. It should be a competitive game.

If we can keep some positive momentum going and KEEP improvIng on the details with each of the next three games we should be ready when we open Big 12 play against KSU.

Looks like all the key contributors (six players play majority of minutes) are guards except one forward. The forward Sissoko was their leading scorer with 20 points and played all 40 minutes. So it’ll be a guard dominant game. I would think Harmon guarding Littleton is a great matchup for Horns. Jack and Holle will have to play more this game.

Nothing to do with game because it hasn’t started yet but I’m disappointed in the MMB fans. They cleared out after that game so fast now it looks like nobody is here. It’s kinda disappointing in my eyes the girls are just as good as our men and you already had tickets to both so why not stay. But whatever I’m here. Also AMo is here and in her brace it’s hard to see her not suited up.

Winning ugly is going to have to be the mantra of this team. Guarantee you this is usc's ugliest game.

Nancy Walling at the game. Supporting the Longhorns as well as her former player Nneka.

Abbie on the big screen.

Great game. I was a bit disappointed in some of the turnovers from Rori. Poor passes when she was trapped. But also, teammates not working harder to help her out. Glad Faye got starting nod. Going to need her in the Big 12. I don't think Jones is coming back soon. She'll be back...but I think one rough game and she'll be back on the bench.

Rori was trying to do too much it looked like to me. When you're being double teamed in the back court you pass, not try to dribble through them. Although the usc long bodies were tough for a shorty like Rori.

It wasn't pretty, but as they say, a W is a W.
