Texas vs UConn in the Elite Eight

Come on folks - be realistic. It doesn't matter if the Horns play fast or slow; big or small; man or zone. The only team that can beat UConn is UConn - plain and simple. Geno said as much in the selection show. His biggest concern is their shots not falling - not any style, scheme, or team.

For you numbers people...
Their margin of victory is 40.8 on the season; 31.4 against ranked opponents; and 21.2 against top ten opponents. They out shoot their opponents 52.8% to 32.9% and out rebound their opponents by 11.6 rpg. (See OP stats above for more)

Texas is better than last year, so the margin of victory will not be 51. However, they cannot compete with the likes of UConn - no one can.

People are quite aware of their average margins of victory. No one said these little strategies would beat them. The thought was it would help, a) if a miracle occurred, Jesus returned to earth and sat behind the Texas bench, and we had a chance to upset them, or b) it would help hold the score down. I don't want us to reclaim the record now held by Miss. St for greatest margin of defeat in the history of the Elite 8. That put a bit of a damper on the end of last season, and we don't want that size disaster to happen again.

It's around the 21 minute mark when Karen gets frustrated with a reporter. He asks her if the team could be looking past the UConn game because they want another chance to play Baylor. She pauses as she wonders if he is joking (because the question is ridiculous). Then she proceeds to asks if anyone has questions about Texas because so many questions have been about UConn and Geno.

Personally, other than the question about looking past UConn, I thought the questions were on point and fairly balanced about how Texas is going to prepare for UConn and the tough task it is to beat them.

Our team seems focused. Hopefully the three games against Baylor will help us to hang tough as they take on the best team in WCBB.

Like the story in the AAS mentioned today (I think it was AAS story), of the 30 min PC with Geno they asked ONE question about Texas - now tell me how many questions/comments in Karen's PC were about UCONN - a majority.

I'm having to watch with no sound because I can't stand the UConn announcers - but Texas looks a bit lethargic.

Number one priority has to be recruit girls who can shoot instead of the brick-layers we have now !!!!!! This a pitiful......UConn hitting nearly every three they put up while we haven't hit a shot yet....and it ain't even close on the misses.

UConn's ability to make shots is why they pull away from others. Horns not slowing them down while not taking good shots nor getting any offensive rebounds.

Horns need to work their offense, not go one on one pretty much every time down the court.

Yes UCONN hits shots (welcome back to planet earth). Our girls aren't chopped liver however. They are in the Elite Eight if you haven't noticed

still, even if the wave off stands, one thing they learned in the first quarter, they can land a few punches of their own.
Let's go, Horns!
