Let's go Horns. You can do it. Get some hits, play great D and have great pitching. Actually, it is just this simple.

Grant Palmer, plays second and bats righty.
Our first full count of the game and then a flair to right is handled by Shaw for two outs.

Kris Paulino plays right field and bats lefty.
Once again the two teams do the same thing as a grounder goes to the hole on the right side that Marlow knocks down, but there is no play. It's an infield hit.

Adam Alcantara is the left fielder and bats righty with two down and one on.
The runner goes and he is out by a mile at second on the good throw by Barrera to retire the side.

The very dangerous hitter drives one deep to right center and Payton dives at the track and makes the fantastic catch for two away.

The wind kept that from scoring a run.

Rebago hits a more mundane fly to center to retire the side.

Thanks to the wind and a tremendous catch by Payton after three innings still 0-0.

Yep, Chad used to start some weekday games last year.
Sometimes it didn't matter who started those games as many pitchers were used.

Johnson leads off the fourth against Mararino.
He pops to the first baseman for one down.

Payton bats with one away.
He K's swinging for two down.

Barrera up with two down.

HInojosa up again with two down and one on.
A fly ball to right retires the side.

Another two out runner is stranded and to the bottom of four still nobody has crossed the plate.

Seems like so many other games in which we are making the opposing pitcher out to be a first team All-American. He has us guessing, and that's bad for us. Gonna have to stay strong from the D and pitching side to stay in this. Come on...see it...hit it...damn it!

Hollingsworth out to try and hold serve again in the fourth.

Spencer leads off from the left side.
A ground ball to second is one away.

He lines a well hit ball that again has no carry in that wind and the centerfielder has it to retire the side.

Halway through this elimination game and we are still where we started on the scoreboard at 0-0.

I'm so sick of these ESPN announcers criticizing the game of college baseball. That's all they have done all night, and for most of the entire CWS. They judge the game by pro baseball standards, and that is not fair.

And the horse they rode in on.

The ball is in Hollingsworth court and hand again as the UCI half of the fifth starts.

Palmer leads off and a hard grounder to first is gobbled up by Clemens for one away.

Paulino bats lefty with one down.
A fly ball to right goes nowhere and is two away.

Alcantara up and lines a sinlge to center for another two out hit.

A full count and you come after this guy as Sparks is on deck.
A ground ball to short goes 6-3 for a big out three and doesn't allow Sparks up with a man in scoring position.

Five gone and still the same 0-0.

Are you kidding me. A triple and Johnson misses first base. Holy s**t. That first base ump sure does enjoy his job.

The sixth arrives and Manarino works on.

Marlow leads off at the top of the order.
The large bender gets him looking for one down.

Johnson bats with one away.
He drives one by the third baseman and down the line in left and then the left fielder can't pick it up and that should be a double and an error, It's called a triple.

Now it's not even a hit as Johnson missed first base and is out on the appeal.

Naturally Payton singles with two outs.
This team has been plagued by base running mistakes all year and this one might end your season.

Barrera bats with two down and one on.
A ground ball to third and the 5-4 force ends the inning.

We may talk about this inning for a long time or maybe not hopefully.

Still tied 0-0 to the bottom of six.

Well that call might cost us a chance at vandy. Ben johnson appears to get a 1 out triple only to get called out on an appeal to first base. Then peyton rips a single which wouldve scored the first run of the game. killer.

Hollingsworth tries to keep pace as the UCI sixth commences.

Sparks leads off at the top of the order and every time he bats you hold your breath.
He hits it hard, but right to Gurwitz and he goes 5-3 for the first out.

Rabago bats righty with one down.
A ground ball to short and Hinojosa charges and throws low and Clemens can't hold the dig and it's an error.

Spencer up with one on and one down and he drives one to the gap in left center and this time it's Johnson that runs it down for two away. Thanks again wind.

McClanahan bats with two away and one on from the right side.
A wild pitch sends the runner to second.
He K's swinging and that ends the threat.

Six played and it's the usual fare for these games and 0-0 is what's on the board.

This is a hell of a pitching duel. Neither team can get anything off these two pitchers. One or two mistakes can easily cost you the game tonight. We just had one bad one, very costly. Maybe it won't be our only chance at a run.

The seventh finds Mararino still on the mound having dodged a 50 caliber shell last inning not by his doing.

Hinojosa leads off for the Horns.
Speaking of howitzer shots there goes one and it actually goes out of the yard for uh, what is that called again.
Oh yeah a homer!

Texas leads 1-0.
What a seed that was, wow!

Yes, I did wait for an appeal and none came, it counts.

Shaw bats now with a run in and no outs.
He K's looking as we go back to normal for one down.

The pitching coach comes out now for a visit and a change is made.
