Texas vs. Texas Tech

Here’s Vic’s quote on the dust up. Basically as we all expected

Question must’ve come toward the end of the presser because you could tell the video was cut with a few Q’s remaining

For some reason, Vic seems to have Kyndall on a shorter leash than most other players. I’m concerned she’s lost confidence as she’s passing up shots or hesitating to shoot and then getting her shot blocked. From my perspective, she’s overthinking her decisions and playing not to make a mistake. Hopefully our assistant coaches are offering her encouragement as she navigates the growing pains of transitioning to college basketball.

Vic recruited Kyndall because she was one of the best shooters in the 2021 class. At some point, Vic needs to give her the green light to shoot so she can get into the flow of the game. If not, Kyndall will be a one dimensional player who simply runs plays so her teammates can take the shots.
Without a green light, I think Kyndall will be in the transfer portal at the end of the season.

Unless she’s mature enough to understand a freshman doesn’t get the green light by just stepping foot on campus and I have a feeling she will rise to the occasion as well as find her role on the team.

I agree with most of what's been posted. I'm a normal fan and post in the heat of the moment and offend some people. So I didn't post last night during the game. I was up, down, mad, happy, sad, ecstatic, perplexed, annoyed and needed a drink all in that 2 hour time frame. I went to post several times but I was an emotional wreck.

It was certainly the perfect storm.

I think we all have seen glimpses of the good, really good, bad and ugly with this team. I think we all just want to get over the hump and not have days off on the court and play consistently all the time. We all mean good and like we use to say in our family, "We can talk about each other all day long. But let an outsider talk about us and it's a down right fight." I think we're sharing opinions amongst family. It's all good!!

Hunter knows she has to play defense to see the floor and she has a bit of a hard time guarding the ball. Her shot selection is also questionable at times. Hunter just needs time to adjust to the college level. She is used to high school ball where she was able to get away with bad shots and lack of defense. Hunter just needs to learn and get comfortable. She will be a special player and Vic is the perfect coach to develop her.

lol I think everyone needs to calm down a bit. Yesterday was bad, really bad but it’s not like we haven’t seen it before. We went through the same thing last season & that turned into a great season in the end. Texas hit that bump last night that we all expected to happen at some point. Our biggest problem right now is keeping everyone healthy for a consistent amount of time. Don’t expect that type of play often. This team will get in practice and get it figured out. Trust the process everyone, we will be just fine.

After the game, Gerlich was complimentary of Vic.

But today, presumably after learning what Vic had to say about the situation, Gerlich held no punches at her press conference in Lubbock especially her comment about sour grapes. Time to grab some popcorn especially when Texas visits Lubbock.

Well this isn’t sour grapes - I’m familiar with Gerlich as a player and, in particular, how ugly she was with a young player in summer basketball camp. If you knew the story, you’d have boo’d her out of the stadium last night. I hope Vic never lets one of her teams beat us again.

This is doubly disappointing for me. It's bad enough that Texas played so badly, but I grew up on the South Plains and got my undergraduate degree at Tech. I came to Austin 40 years ago for my graduate degree and never left. Still, I want to be able to pull for Tech when they aren't playing Texas. I actually left the game early last night and told my friend "I have to leave or I won't be able to pull for Tech the rest of the season." So yeah, it's okay with me if they don't win another game all season.

The Tech coach shall now have her name changed from Krista to "Karen" Gerlich.

Disclaimer: Not a reference to our former HC Aston.

Lol I used to like her too but she has officially taken over Kim Mulkeys former spot of my most disliked coach in the big 12 based on her attitude alone. She let that win get to big for her head but she will quickly become humbled when we meet them again.

I finally could get on here and read ya’lls comments. Good stuff. I’m moving on. I’m excited about the rematch in Lubbock. Should be great theater. I don’t think we’ll play as bad then. And Schaefer should make some adjustments…..he’ll incorporate ya’lls suggestions…..and rightfully so. At noon on a Friday…….sure wish we had a game this weekend. With Baylor cancelling and uncertainty whether B12 will allow a fill-in….it appears next game will be Kansas Wednesday then West Virginia next Sunday. Both will be home games. Sure hope something gets scheduled this afternoon for a Sunday fill-in.

Do others remember her as a player on their NC team? I didn’t like her then and I don’t care for her now, even more so after this incident and her next day comments. The guns down crew is having a field day on social media. That’s gonna be one hostile environment to play in compared to recent years. I attended the 2020 game in Lubbock, right before everything shut down. It was downright tame compared to trips i took there in the early 90s.

Dont know if anyone caught his presser comments about wanting to go somewhere on sunday and play someone really really good because he was "feeling his oats" prior to the Tech game. Sure wish I knew who he was thinking. My head immediately jumped to Storrs

It would not have been UCONN because they're still having their conference games cancelled because of COVID within the UCONN program.

He made it sound like someone big. #6 Indiana did not have a game cancelled or postponed but they played Wednesday and don't have another game scheduled until Thursday...

Would be nice to get that Arizona game back but they’re scheduled to play USC. As of today the only top 25 option would be a rematch with Stanford and I don’t see that happening.

We’re going to have UTRGV here on Sunday. That’s not his original plan, but good to have a game because we need the Reps
Moore, Gaston, Hunter, Lattimore, and Holle need major minutes IMO. We're going to need them the most for the rest of the season in addition to the others who regularly play the most minutes.

I feel like holle deserves more minutes. Shoots well and defends well.
