Cody Farhat will bat righty, his first at bat today, after coming into the game.
High shallow fly to left is two away.

A full count and a grounder behind the bag at third and Clemens dives and has it and the strong throw to first to his brother is a nice 5-3 out to end the game.

When it goes right it goes right, Texas wins the game 17-1, on the run rule and the series 2-1. Back soon.

Runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs and we get NOTHING.....
The Horns are tearing **** up and not a positive word from car54. As soon as something that seems marginally negative happens: boom! There he is to whine about it.

Well not a lot to say about this one, it was all Texas, all the time.

The Horns battered some bad looking Tech pitching and they added walks and three errors, it was an explosion.

Meanwhile Kyle Johnston was dominant and the only question was if Tech would score. Shugart pitches a perfect seventh, to end things.

Texas goes to 19-21 on the season and 9-6 in conference play. It's a curious season, where the Horns are under .500 still, but series wins over the top two teams in the Big 12, both in the top ten in the country.

There may be weather problems, for the midweek game, have to see how that goes. Then another big series with OSU in Austin, next weekend. The Horns are tied with the Cowboys for third place, in the Big 12.

Twelve games to play in the regular season and still alot to play for now. :hookem2::bevo:

The crazy thing is we have won 4 out of our 5 Big 12 series with the only series loss being on the road to rival OU. I think we did not win a single big 12 series a few years ago.

Texas Tech Beats Texas in Game 1, 13-6 - Viva The Matadors

Outstanding pitching, and aside from a couple innings we actually handled the bat fairly well. This line up may be just what we need to get this thing turned around. Augie needs to leave it as is for a while.....Maybe let Cantu catch Tuesday but not any other changes on defense. DH Tres if he doesn't catch.

How to explain yesterday and today, you cant this team has always had potential but so many craptastic Tuesday nights has meant a season lost.

Though if they win their last 12 and finish second in the Big XII......................

OSU's loss to OU doesn't count toward Big 12 standings, correct ? They have a 3 game series coming up that counts in the conference race....

This is the exact same position lineup we had at the beginning of the season...exception: DH

Too bad you can't stockpile runs to use in other games

Thank you again and again for taking the time to recap each inning.
It was great to read today's inning by inning
Yesterday not so much.

It was misery watching Augie shuffle in Boswell and Cantu (sub .200 hitters), even in the same lineup before Kansas. Predictably the offense suffered from two dead bats.

Baker returned after UH and replaced one of the two holes with potent hitting. Low and behold the offense has been on fire ever since.

6 games before Baker return: 3, 0, 6, 12, 2, and 2 runs
6 games after Baker return: 5, 8, 12, 7, 6, and 17 runs

The difference is monumental without 2 dead bats. 25 runs before, 55 runs after. It's no coincidence we went 5-2 after UH....taking 5 of last 6.

This lineup is pretty stout now that Baker has wiped out a big weakness. If the pitching steps up on the back stretch, we've got a decent shot at a playoff worthy finish.

The return of Joe Baker has been huge. Today he almost hit for the cycle (a single, two doubles, and a home run). If Tech hadn't intentionally walked him in his fourth at bat, maybe he would have gotten that elusive triple.

With 7-2 finish and a sweep of OSU and a little help, we could actually win the regular season title. Will it happen ? Probably not, but after the season we have had, it is wild that we could be in this shape.
The question is......
With our record, could a regular season title be enough to get a team into the regionals if they didn't win the Big 12 Tourney ? Most teams...I'd say maybe no, but we're TEXAS.
