Texas vs. Texas Tech-Big 12 Tournament

It's not "Breakfast At The Brick," as it had been, for years. The Big 12 Tournament has moved from OKC, to Tulsa. It's just an early game at 1OK Field.

Good morning, you don't get to say that often in baseball, unless a night game runs late in many extra innings. We have talked about this it seems, a very long time now and it's finally here. The do or die last stand for Texas Baseball, if they are to keep the season alive.

The Horns face the Red Raiders in a must game, because with the lack of pitching depth, no way Texas would be able to come back, through the losers bracket. Hollingsworth is out and didn't even make the trip. Clemens threw some bullpen work and of course was the DH at Baylor. All hands on deck will be used when needed one would think.

Texas Tech needs some wins, to assure them a regional bid, they go out quickly and they could well be done, for the year.

Grab a sweet roll or whatever and the Starbucks and let's play baseball.

Parker French gets the ball for this and the senior right hander has always been good in the clutch, he will need to be again, for hopefully at least seven innings or so.

The game is being televised on various denominations of those Fox Sports channels, I have it on channel 448, on Dish. The audio is

Lineups on the way.

Go Horns!

The ace of the Texas Tech staff is left hander, Cameron Smith, as you can see his numbers above are good. He completes his warm up pitches and we are ready for morning baseball.

Ben Johnson steps in right handed, to lead off for the Horns. He will be drafted and most likely will sign, after the completion of this season, so he knows his Texas days are numbered. I expect a big effort from him.

Weather has passed through and should not be a problem in this game.

Johnson steps in, as Texas is the visitors, as the lower seed in the #4-#5 game.
A fly ball to center, on the first pitch he sees, is on down.

Baker, is at second today, bats righty, with one out.
He K's swinging on a high off speed pitch, for two gone.

Hinjosa, back at short, bats righty, with two outs.
Another slow change and another swing and a miss, the second straight K, retires the side in order.

A slow roller is fielded by French, on the right side and he takes it to the bag, for the 1U, that retires the side.

A double, but nothing more, so it's 0-0, after an inning.

Smith back to the mound for Tech, as the second starts.

Barrera, the Horn DH, leads off, batting right handed.

A liner to the gap in left center and it's to the wall, but Baker falls rounding at second, he would have scored easily, that hurts.

Runners on second and third, for Barrera, batting righty, two away.
He needs a clutch hit to add to the lead.
