Texas vs. Tech: The New Batch

Yeah, this is pretty ugly. Our 'Horns haven't made a shot since 3:30 or so to play in the first half, just free throws.

question I've had for many games this season... who is the man who typically sits behind Barnes... tonight he's in long-sleeved burnt orange (yeah, I know, but... to say he's not in a suit) just to the left of Barnes shoulder, right at the end of the table. He's at home and away games visible in bench shots. Can't place him.

Texas is 2-of-12 from the field so far in the second half ... and both makes were dunks.

It's a team-wide case of cranial rectitis.

Silly Raiders, you can't leave Brown that open behind the arc.

I was just thinking the same, Third. We seem a bit slow with the help defense tonight, and that is leading to our bigs being out of position for rebounds.

That's a wrap--our 'Horns start fast, grabbing a 21-point lead with about 3:30 to play in the first half, ... and then hold on for a comfortable, yet sloppy, 76-60 win.

JCB got toasted on D a few times, but he gave the team a much-needed second-half spark thanks to a couple of 3s and some well-placed passes.

Matt Hill also had an exceptional game off the bench--six points on 3-of-3 shooting, six boards, an assist and a steal without a turnover in just 11 minutes. He's playing with so much confidence right now, he's like a completely different player from the one who started the season.

It was ugly, but a win is a win is a win. Let's just hope we play a lot better at OU and vs. Baylor next week.

Incidentally, this was the third game in a row in which Texas went up, 2-0, and neither trailed or tied the rest of the way.

Unfortunately, it was also the third game in a row in which our 'Horns grabbed an early lead and then traded baskets the rest of the way. But I'm probably nitpicking. As wadster said, "next."

I agree Jim. Matt Hill has really become a solid part of the rotation and a real asset instead of a liability when he's in there. I haven't felt that way in the past.

A game like this can be a good thing, because it can help keep the team focused on improving and Barnes will surely be stressing some of the deficiencies evident tonight.

I guess i am just spoiled by the team when they are really clicking at both ends and have come to expect that type of play all of the time. My unreasonable expectations notwithstanding, I am very thankful that we are 20-3.

Thanks to Homeland Security hads to watch game at sports bar so couldnt comment on thread. Horns seemed almost to play down to level of competition once they built up the 21 point lead. FT's continue to be an issue and the number of offensive rebounds surrendered was disconcerting. Still even when they cut it to six I never felt like the team didnt have the ability to turn it on and put them away. Barnes has things he can really focus on in practice and film sessions to keep them from getting too complacent.

on to Norman and chance to avenge what was by far the ugliest loss of last year.
