Texas vs OSU

I am getting confused on the Coaching decision's.
R. Boothe play her *** off the last game.
And have not hit the floor.
That's crazy.
We got to get some point's out of our Post Player's.
And Rebound the ball and block out.

Lashann Higgs played like an All-American tonight; she was basically perfect offensively, and she made up for Ariel Atkins lack of offense tonight.

Whew! Glad we had this game at home tonight; had to hold serve at home.

Really disappointed we never pressed Lauryn Goodwin as she brought the ball up the floor.

This game was just what I was expecting. OSU is very good and well-coached. Judging from the games I've seen them play this year, they're Top 15 IMO. That freshman Braxton Miller is one of the best I've seen this year... plays so efficiently within herself. She ate us up just as she did UCLA. Big time gut check for our team tonight... proud of the way we fought back and refused to lose. That's what top teams do. Great to see Higgs playing so consistently well this season... She seems like a great kid in her interviews.

I'm not understanding all the silly, unforced turnovers as of late... it's very frustrating.

Good tough win for our team tonight. We have got to get some of those sloppy unnecessary turnovers cleaned up, especially the 5 second calls for no movement. Lashann, can't say enough great things about her, love the way she's playing this season. It was good to see Joyner start to look more comfortable, we will need her going forward. Hat's off to OSU though, they played a great game. Goodwin is the real deal. I was glad to see Jatarie exert herself more in the second half, just wish she would do that the whole game. The freshman player, Braxton, was also outstanding for OSU tonight. Still wish we could work Boothe in a little more, but her time will come. In the end, proud of the team, Hook 'Em! :hookem:

Tonight, I think the team was feeling the pressure of trailing so much of the game and just started pressing and trying to do too much.

When they finally got into a groove late in the fourth quarter, the game just came to them.

IMO, Ariel hasn't played well offensively the last two games. She has a tendency to play too fast and gets careless with the ball.

I was disappointed that Boothe didn't get a chance to play. I can't comprehend why she wasn't given any minutes. I really wanted to see what she could do underneath the basket and with rebounding.

Great win tonight. It wasn't the perfect game but our team battled through the tough stretches and came through with a win. That's a good sign that we are mentally tough and have matured since the Tennessee game.

Credit to OSU. They are a very good team and well coached. I'm not looking forward to our rematch in Stillwater.

I can't think of any more bragging to do about Lashann. Like others, I wanted to Rellah to get her chance. This game showed clearly that Joyner needs to start getting more minutes fast. The three by Sug from the corner was the biggest turning point.

We are not getting much offense from the power forward position. Against the best teams, we need five scorers on the floor. And we need more threes.

A win is a win is a win but I honestly don’t understand the continued minutes for Audrey tonight. I can only assume Karen needs something from her that doesn’t show up in the stat sheet. Whenever White and Holmes were in together, I felt like we closed the gap. I am going to rewatch the game to see if that was reality.

Scratching my head about Audrey. One rebound. Two turnovers. Four fouls. I just don’t get it. That one block late in the 4th did come at a very important time so there’s that.

At one point late in the 4th both teams had equal rebounds, equal turnovers, equal assists and the exact same FG% of 55%. We played a mirror image of ourselves. They had two more threes and we had five more from the line. We won because we got to the line and made our shots. 92%. Wow. What a game.

Way to play the full 40. :hookem:

Let me repeat that. I can’t remember the last time we won a game because of our free throws. 92%

We had 12. They had 7. We won the game by 5.

We were fantastic from the free throw line again tonight, and we needed every single one of them! The team was clutch down the stretch.

Coach A dialed up the right sub at the 5 minute mark by giving Lashann a breather and inserting Alecia Sutton (who scored 5 points down the stretch), and then pulling Atkins at the 2:52 mark and putting Lashann back in the game to guard Goodwin. And, Lashann hit all her free throws after that. Then, she pulled Audrey-Anne at the 50 second mark to insert Ariel and have 4 guards on the court to end it.

Good to see the men' hoops players in attendance supporting the women, as well.

At half, we were 0 for 0 in free throws while OSU was 4-8. Glad to see the Ladies wentharder to rim in second half.....and made the free throws. That was too stressful. I may not be able to sleep until LATE while trying to burn off Adrenalin. I have a feeling OSU will cause all the B12 teams lots of trouble.

I muted the TV, and listened to Craig Way and Fran Harris on the radio broadcast. Fran kept preaching that the team needed to feed Jatarie the ball after Jensen got her fourth foul in order to foul her out, but they never did. I agree with Fran completely.

Atkins - god love her. She got the you know what beat out of her in the first quarter. Slammed to the floor a couple of times. Nasty screens. Amazing she was still standing at the end of the 1st much less the 4th. Kind of explains her low-ish points. That girl can take a charge like no other. Every game at least one and often more. Love her

I have these great ideas about what I think Coach KA should do, especially during close games. But after usually a close win the reality is our Coach knows exactly what to do, whom to put into the games, whom to sit. The body language on the bench looks great. I know they all want to play but they just look like the all trust the process. Lets give them a board that supports the players AND the Coach's decisions. Great Win Ladies!!

Absolutely. Because our perimeter play is good, they at times forget to establish Jatarie down in the post. IMO Jatarie will be the determining factor on Texas’ ability to compete for the conference and make a deep run in the tournament.

I like Audrey so much that I just had to watch the game again. It just didn’t make sense live.

In rewatching the game I better understand Audrey’s minutes. She hustled every second she was in. She boxed out beautifully - not getting the rebound herself - but opening up the rebound for others. Her lone block and lone rebound came at key moments but otherwise she was pretty anemic offensively.

With 5 mins left in the game, it appeared that OSU had us on the ropes and was going to get the win. And then Sutton comes off the bench and scores 5 huge points. BUT at 2:46 Audrey gets a HUGE block that probably won the game. Immediately following we took the lead and never let it go.

The first play of the 4th you see the greatness of Holmes, but she needs more time. She was winded almost immediately. Consistently the last one down the court... by a lot. If all goes well, she’ll be 100% late in the season when we will desperately need some fresh legs.

Higgs was near perfect.
McCarty is truly special.
Ariel sacrifices everything every second she is on the floor.
Thank God White came to Texas.
Sutton was clutch

So good to see such joy in the ladies at the end of the game.

This team has heart and finally has learned to play 40 long 40 strong. :hookem:

When I see Audrey drive to the basket, I feel like she's been told over and over to drive and kick the ball back out. There were a couple of times tonight that she may have had a layup/foul called if she had just shot the ball instead of kicking it out. But, I watched the replay and when she got that crucial block toward the end of the 4th quarter, Nell mentioned how she does all the dirty work. She may not be effective during the whole game, but if she's working hard in practice and showing up in crunch time, I'm all for that.

Ok. One huge complaint about OSU. In the final seconds of the game Goodwin tries to foul McCarty who luckily passes it off to White who scores. However, Goodwin yanks, and I mean yanks McCarty by the neck and throws her to the ground. Watch in slo mo. It’s awful. Brooke looks at the ref like WTF...

Two thoughts:
1. That was a BS move Goodwin
2. Whatever... like McCarty was going to miss those free throws

:cursing2:

Yeah, we've had to play four on five for the past several seasons, I wish KA would recognize how that cripples us in our half court offense. VERY difficult to get very far without production from the 4 position. Hopefully Joyner will play play more and SOON.
