Texas vs OSU game 1

Very good inning for Marlow, since the third this has been a good night for the pitching staff.

Marlow of the Brooks variety leads off the Texas eighth
with a soft liner to short for one away.

OSU finally with a relief pitcher a lefty in now.

Johnson flys out to deep center for out two.

Hall lines one off the first baseman who picks it up and tosses to the pitcher covering to retire the side.

Texas leads 8-4 to the bottom of the eighth.
 
Marlow still on the hill gives a fly ball double down the line that falls in fair and then goes into the corner.

Marlow gets back on the K train with one swinging for out one.

Another double down the left field line makes it 8-5 now and it gets a little sticky and here comes Skip.

Pitching change and I wonder if it's Knebel time and Ways says it is.
 
Nice to have a stopper/save man like Corey, really hate how often he comes on in the 8th inning. Two big ground outs there to squash any kind of rally.

Knebel in now as you know how important this game is for Augie and the Horns.

The three run lead now makes it a save situation as he chases Houston Street for all time saves leader.

Ground ball up the middle that Hinojosa ranges over and make the complete 360 to throw him out for out two.

Runner moved to third on the play.

Marlow makes a great play I think as Ways says a liner snagged by Marlow who throws him out af first.
Throw me a little bit more description there Craig.

Anyway still 8-5 now after eight complete now.
 
Weis leads off and K's swinging for out one.

Payton grounds out to short for the second out.

Hinojosa grounds out to short also to end the inning.

Texas leads 8-5 to the bottom of the ninth.

Knebel out for the save for the Horns.
 
Knebel faces the top of the OSU order in the ninth.

He walks the first hitter on four pitches, could do without drama here and a lot of pitches on his arm.

Next batter pops out to Silver for a big out # 1.

A foul pop out to Weis is an even bigger out two.

Knebel settles down and K's swinging the last man.

He gets the save and Texas gets the big game one win
8-5 to even their conference mark at 2-2.

Need at least one more in this series and need to keep swinging the hot bats.

Horns win 8-5.

Very nice way to start this huge weekend series for the Horns. If Texas is going to compete for a playoff spot this is the kind of team they should take 2 of 3 from and hopefully even sweep. Getting this first win sets up rest of series nicely.

Great to see bats come alive and even though French struggled that is to be expected as he comes back from injury.
