Texas vs. Oklahoma State-Big 12 Championship Game-Hopefully Played

Johnston will give it a go in the OSU seventh, how much longer can he go.
A great effort by another freshman today.

Arakawa leads off batting lefty, for the Cowboys.
He walks, for a lead runner.

A pinch hitter is Garrett McCain, batting righty, with a man on.
He squares and gets beaned right in the head, it did get the helmet first.
He's down and and the trainers are out.
That puts two on and maybe finishes off Johnston.
A pinch runner comes in for McCain.
The rain is picking up too.

Skip out and that is all for Johnston. He gave it his all and if he had a few runs to take the pressure off, he might have done even better.

Pitching change for the first time in the Tourney, for Texas.

The batter practically had his head over the plate. When the ball was inside, he was too far in to pull his head out before getting beaned. Anyway, that is how I saw it.

OSU has had two lucky infield hits to score their two runs. Of course, if we didn't have preceding walks, it would be moot.

Senior right hander, Parker French comes in, as there is no tomorrow, without a win.

He faces righty hitter, Sluder, with two on.
The bunt is down and the sac goes 3-4, one out, the runners move up.

Case bats righty, with two on and one down.
Infield comes in, to cut off the run.
A squibber and Hinjosa charges and bare hands, the throw it first is in time, an outstanding play, but the run scores.

OSU leads 2-1.

Chappel bats righty, with one on and two outs.
He sends a weak liner to Marlow, that retires the side.

OSU takes the lead, without a hit, it's 2-1 Cowboys, after seven

Good job by Parker French, but the weak grounder and quick baserunning from third give OSU the lead. Our luck may be running out in this tournament. Six outs remaining on UT's season without at least one more run.

I was wondering how come they didn't intentionally walk after the 1st out with men on 2nd and 3rd. If they did, Hinojosa likely would have had the runner at home on the force.

Those weak grounders have killed us. The semifinal game last year in Omaha still burns my buns. Kind of like little Texas leaguers that just get over the infield. Still count though. Come on boys...you can do it.

Remey Reed, a righty hander, comes on in to pitch the eighth, for OSU.

Johnson leads off, batting righty, for the Horns.
This is a big inning, as the top of the order is up.
A hopper to short and he just missed it, off his glove and into shallow left center, a E-6 is a big break for the Horns.

Baker up batting righty, with one on.
He wants to sacrifice, but the count runs 2-0.
I thought he might take a strike, but he lays it down, on what was ball three high, the sac goes 1-3, Johnson on second.

Hinojosa bats righty, with one on and one down.
A ground ball to third and he boots it, for another error.

Barrera bats righty, with runners on the corners, with one down.
OSU trying to give it back to Texas, they need to take it.
Coach is out and a change is coming.

Pitching change.

The new Cowboy pitcher is right hander, Carson LaRue.

Barrera up yet again in a clutch situation, runners on the corners, one out.
Need some contact, a fly ball is a good thing, a grounder might not be.
He bunts and the pitcher can't handle it, the tying run scores, yet another OSU error.
Put a tent on this circus!

Game tied 2-2.

Coach out again and another change.

Tyler Nurdin, a left hander, comes in now for OSU.

He comes in to face lefty hitter, Shaw, for Texas, two on and one out.
He walks to load the bases.

Gurwitz bats righty, with the bases loaded, one out.
Again a fly ball will work, need some contact, the bunt would be tough, with the force at home, unless it's a true suicide.
Got to be a zone hitter here and get a good pitch to hit.
Infield is in, which is kind of interesting, instead of at double play depth, advantage Gurwitz.
A liner by the first baseman and down the right field line, it will score two, on the single.

Texas leads 4-2.

Marlow up batting lefty, with runners at the corners, one down.
The safety squeeze is down and the 1-3, was almost a fourth error, on a high throw, but the out is made.

Texas leads 5-2.

Coach out and another change, as OSU has come unglued.

The latest Cowboy pitcher is the closer, Koda Glover, a right hander, as OSU is in crisis mode.

Patrick Mathis will pinch hit, batting lefty, with a man on second and two outs.
Game is changing channels after this frame, so make adjustments.
He lines a single to center, for his first hit, as a Horn, and an rbi.

Texas leads 6-2.

Boswell bats lefty, with one on and two outs.
A grounder to first, it finally retires the side.

Five unearned runs on three errors, give Texas a 6-2 lead, to the bottom of eight.

About to lose TV coverage as Fox Sports 1 goes to Nascar coverage.

If French closes out, that is 4 pitchers for entire tourney.

Remember, still two more half innings to get through... I trust French in this situation, but stranger things have happened in The Big 12 Tournament

French will pitch the eighth, for Texas, with the big lead.
Travis Jones, comes in to play first base.
I have the game on Dish channel 445.

Green bats lefty, at the top of the order, leading off.
He sends a little liner, that gets over Marlow, for a lead single.

Hassel bats righty, with one on.
He lines one to Boswell and he missed it, its' ruled a hit, but that's an error, it was right to him.
Now they change it to an error, that really hurts.

Walton bats lefty, with two on.
A single by Marlow, will load the bases, French may not have much today.

Skip is out and he wants a lefty.

French just wasn't ready today, on the short rest.

Pitching change.

French is gone after allowing two singles and a hard shot ruled an error to load the bases with no outs. Starters coming in as relievers...not always a good idea. Big trouble in Tulsa. Kirby Bellow needs to be on his game right now.

Kirby Bellow the left hander is summoned from the pen in a full blown jam.

Williams the lefty clean up man, bats with the bases loaded, no outs.
A flair to center and it drops, for a single, and a run.

Texas leads 6-3.

Arakawa bats lefty, with the bases loaded.
A big curve ball is hacked on and missed, for a big K and one out.

Pinch hitter is David Petrino, batting righty, with the bases loaded, one gone.
A chop to third and it goes 5-4-3, the inning ending double play limits, the damage big time.

Texas leads 6-3, to the ninth.
