Texas vs Oklahoma 1/24/2024

Hands? We look like we have never touched a basketball - can't dribble, pass or hang on to it, much less shoot. Thank goodness for Shay Holle. Did Vic not expect this? OU has played this style since Baranzyck arrived. Time for a 4th qtr rally or we can forget about a B12 championship. But, orange hope never dies; maybe a B12 tournament title. Some days, you just get your butt handed to you ...

Well Vic... you've been threatening to play Amo and Amina together recently. Sure wish you would have recognized that you needed to do that earlier in this game.
 
13.5 seconds down by 6. Put all of our 3 pt shooters and let's get this W. Holle ho and win this game.
 
It really frustrates me that we make little to no effort to get three's. If Shaylee or Shay happen to be open, they might take one if they don't feel like they have to get it inside. No set plays for 3 pointers, little to no screening to get three's. This is a major part of today's game. I haven't seen any other team so imbalanced offensively.

We don't have a reliable 3-point shooter in clutch situations ... or am I thinking this only because we haven't made 3s tonight? We're not usually in close games, so memory fails ... OU plays KSU twice, correct? Have to hope for another one like this.

All Coach preaches is defense. If only we had a better offense. I liked the offense OU played.
 
Well, I guess SeattleUT was correct. Texas bounced back after a bad start, then Vic yanked Jones and Moore. Hadi and Amina did nothing during that spell besides give the lead back. Then Texas piddled, oopsied, and slipsied, until the fourth quarter when it was really too late to salvage the game. I don't care how close the final score was, Texas had absolutely no defense and no answer for OU. Why Gisella was in the game and she wasn't shooting 3's is beyond me. And Shaylee not scoring more...well, I've talked about that before. I feel bad for Shay because she played a whale of a game. Can't think of much that she did wrong.
 
When our defense doesn't stop the opponents offense, we are in a heap of trouble. No fast breaks or easy buckets. Our only half court offense is the basket weave which is easy to defend. And we all know a zone gives us fits. OU just made the blue print to beat us. Let's see how Coach handles it.
 
Guys, there is no way to sugar-coat what happened tonight. That was a really tough loss. oU was just 11-6 coming into this game. KState held them to only 57 pts two weeks ago. The only teams they've scored this many points against this season are teams like Oral Roberts and Alabama St! That was just awful! I'm not sure where this season goes from here, and I'm sure Vic will still find a way to make this a respectable season, but it doesn't look like we're gonna win the B12 this season. We've just dug ourselves into too big of a hole.

AND, it was the most points scored against Texas all season. AT HOME! Just an incredibly bad display of talent.
 
Holle is the MVP of this game. Welcome to your coming out party Shay! Now if we can keep her at that level and get Amo and Gonzalez going consistently. Plus Booker we might be on to something.

And let me say this because it chapped my hide when Coach put in Maul. REALLY COACH?!?! They are whipping our behinds and you throw her in there butts when we are up by 20 you leave her on the bench. SMH

I've been waiting for this to happen since we played TCU. Had they made a few open looks earlier in that game they would have beaten us too.

Once Rori went down it was always going to be an uphill battle. The offense can always be better, but Oklahoma scored 91 points. That's where the game was lost.

Yep, and I've got more years behind me than ahead of me. I don't have many more years to wait for a championship.:eek:
 
You know, I realize the team changed with Rori going down, but they had been playing respectfully and folks were starting to take notice that they were doing alright without her. I think this game will have most of the sports writers as befuddled as almost all of the team was tonight. It seems like when one goes, they all go. Except for Shay. Wonder how she stayed above the fray?
 
Unfortunate to have our floor general out for the season. With Harmon running the show, the Baylor and OU losses would have been no contests.

Absolutely. 87 points is typically plenty of offense. Wish we would have figured out that last combination we had on the floor sooner. Even it wasn't exactly stellar defensively, but at least it was more effective than any of the others he tried.

To go a little further on my earlier point, we have two excellent three point shooters. Shaylee is 40 whatever percent. I don't know Shay's, but it's good too. We haven't had any clutch situations until tonight, when we chose to take it inside, of course, though the defense down there was shutting us down. Players today love the three point shot and expect it to be part of the game. I'm afraid we are going to be an anachronism and three point shooter won't choose to come here.

Like everyone else, I'm wondering if Vic will change anything in response to this loss.
 
Credit OU for out hustling us. Wow. We decided to bring an offense without a defense and let OU beat us at their game.

My heart goes out to Holle having an incredible game on a night that didn’t result in a win.

Lots of games left. Hook ‘em!

Being at the game, I find this comment interesting. It didn’t feel like we ran a press at all tonight. Did we really have one in place for some of the game? I guess, in person, it felt like OU out ran us so easily that a press ended up looking like we just weren’t getting back on defense fast enough. It was maddening to watch.

I was at the game and it was painful to watch. 2nd quarter was bad, 3rd quarter was awful. And yet they still had a good chance at the end of pulling it out--maddening.
