Hate to base things on one game, and I know we have usually faded toward season's end, but this was quite a good game. I have not liked RBs approach in last few years, but have to admit this team- without Kabongo- looks like a team. It gives one hope! Defense was lights out, but we even hit some free throws. Make you wonder what could have been with Kabongo on the squad.
The big difference was the effort and intensity Texas had.
Yeah, they went brain dead a few times on defense and
with some turnovers.
Then they would go right back to ramping up the pace of
of play. They fought through screens, manned up and blocked
out. They even had good movement on offense and ran some set plays successfully. It was beautiful to watch when we would get into that zone of just plain all out hustle.
We play with this type of effort and we will be a pretty good
team in this conference.
Was lucky enough to be at the game tonight with the better half, AndyMac, and BLym. What an effort! Pure enjoyment. HOPEFULLY this is a sign of chemistry that can develop with this team. Winning is fun.
UNC isn't what they have been in the past, but I have to confess that given the state of our program, I am as pleasantly surprised with this performance as any game in recent memory. The perimeter defense and relatively low number of turnovers on offense in particular.
Must confess. While I had the game on, I wasn't watching it as closely as I usually do. I was doing some work and I also thought the Horns would blow the lead anyway. Glad I was wrong!
