Frustration thy names is Horns. Payton walks with
one out and is caught stealing. So naturally Wies
singles, then Walsh hits a screamer to right with
home run distance that goes foul. He flies out
and still tied to the bottom of the 1th.
And it ends as after a one out infield hit, Bellows
who came in to play first base for Silver boots
a ground ball then throws it away and the runner
goes all the way to third.
A SF ends it and Missouri wins 7-6 in the 11th.
Another terrible loss and series loss. We could
wind up in 4th place now when it's all said and
done with Baylor looming.
I feel for Knebel it's just almost unfair for him.
Watching this team is a painful thing, they are missing all the elements that make for a winning team from execution on offense to making the basic defensive plays. The pitching staff is average and doesnt have the arms to overcome a mediocre offense and less than average defense. If anything this team has regressed to where it was at the beginning of the year when there was a realistic possibility of a losing season.
So we put in a defensive replacement at first base, and he promptly commits two errors on one play. What is this team going to come up with next? Everything is turning out badly.
Well actually Bellows came in because we pinch
ran for Silver in the top half of the inning.
Tech has taken the lead on Aggy in the 12th
on a homer. By the way the Aggy closer that
we roughed up Martin threw 92 pitches before
taken out after the homer.
Tech wins 8-4 and we stay tied with Aggy for
2nd place in the conference for now.
OSU and OU are tied at 2 in the 5th if
OSU wins then there would be a three way
tie for 2nd.
If that happens we will be automatically in
third as OSU and Aggy play next week while
we are not playing in the conference.
The winner of that series will be in second
place with the loser in fourth.
Then we play Baylor to see whether we would
finish anywhere from 2nd to 4th. Maybe Baylor
will lack focus by then, but I doubt it playing
Texas and also maybe going for an undefeated
conference season.
OSU wins over OU 3-2 and there is a three way
tie for 2nd in the conference.
The scenario mentioned above is now reality
and we can finish anywhere from 2nd to 4th
in the conference depending on the outcome
of our series with Baylor.
I'm sick of stupid decisions by personnel/coaches whenever someone is on base. There's so much more value to "not getting out" by caught stealing or tag outs than Augie seems to let on. But we "manufacture" a run and he looks like a genius, when the run probably would have scored anyhow with singles and walks.
According to Augie's post-game radio interview, Bellow came in because he had looked great with the glove in the past. Someone may have had to come in due to pinch running for Silver, but it was viewed as a defensive upgrade, which backfired.
