We have arrived! Disappointing, but this season has been a great success. I'm a believer. Can't wait till next year. We are going to miss Chas bad.
 
Well, Horns go down 69-65. Definitely a winnable game that slipped away. Thomas came up big for Maryland in the second half.

Horns will look at this replay and see where they left pts get away. Kinda surprised that Maryland beat us in rebounding. Only 14 TOs to Maryland's 16, so we controlled that.

Can't wait to see the team next season. Expectations will certainly be higher, from fans, players, coaches and others.
 
My worst fear came true on those last two possessions. Much was made about the girls being in their first tournament, but we quickly forgot that KA has never been past the second round either. I thought she made two crucial errors at the end in both going for the 3 down only one, and then fouling Mincy with 39 seconds left. I know there was only a 4 second difference, but we had turned MD over on 3 straight possessions so in an instance like that, you HAVE to play defense. The stage got a little to big for both her and the girls, but I expect us to learn from and carry us over the hump in the years to come. This wasn't a year that a National title or final four was the goal so I'd much rather take the NECESSARY lumps sooner rather than later.

I don't want to ignore the fact that we accomplished some great things this year in terms re-establishing the program and in recruiting obviously. But I don't want to ignore the fact of what could've been either because among coaches, the sweet 16 was a realistic goal.

Looking forward to the next 5 years. Pending Atkins ability to dominate right away, 25+ wins and a sweet 16 would be the reasonable expectation only losing GG and chas from the rotation.
 
And I want to make sure that i note how much improvement there was from the end of last year to this. Worst to first in 3 point shooting in the league and top 10 in fg % defense shows the dedication of the girls and the staff over the summer. Match and exceed that this offseason and the sky is truly the limit.
 
Definitely some take aways - I'm very proud of the team and they had a better season than I expected. Finishing 3rd in the B12 is no small feat. We could have won the game tonight and maybe we should have won it, that said, I think we would have won it if we were playing on our home court. But hey, maybe we'll get over the hump next year and begin winning these close road games........if we only had just one more impact player, like say maybe......

It was there for the taking.

We continued to let rebounds just slip out of our hands and fall out of bounds under the basket. Frustrating.

Krystle came up big from behind the arc late; that's really what kept us alive and gave us a chance in the end.

The biggest mistake, IMO, was when we were down 65-64, and had just gotten a steal. I wish Coach A would have called a timeout, but instead she let the offense try to run by itself. Then, with 10 seconds left on the shot clock, she called the timeout.

Maryland beat us at our own game, which was rebounding. All their second chance points off of offense rebounds really hurt.

Overall, great season. Team never stopped fighting, and that's all you can ask.
 
Happily eating crow. Congrats to Karen for the turn around. Thinking she has us headed in the right direction despite tonight's loss. (Tastes like chicken). BUT Baylor and Aggy still being in makes our being out harder to swallow.

Stat, you're correct. I think that Ariel will more than make up for Chas' production, and leadership is there with Krys, Brady and especially Nneka. I look for us to press more in years to come, and be more of a transition team turning defense into offense.

And you're right with the shot clock as well, there was no reason to foul. Given the opportunity to go through that scenario again, I think coach would make a different call
