Remember when getting ball at half meant something with Mack? Maybe just me but doesn’t seem to important in the past years, or maybe that’s just me.
 
Remember when we used to beat teams 52-7 in the 1st game and you just had a few beers and relaxed. It's time to schedule North Texas and Rice for the 1st game. We're not capable of beating so-so teams early. Hell we struggle with them late too.

yep, but on the plus side, fall fishing is the best as far as I'm concerned. Temps are like spring without all the wind. Anyone in the DFW area, my boat's in a slip at Joe Pool. I would say I know how to fish, but every time I think I have it figured out, I blank. I'l get 3 or 4 good trips in a row and then blank. Give me a PM and I'll take you on a nice Saturday afternoon if football pisses you off.

I agree with this part. Politics and emotion killed that deal. Some people will always believe Sexton was just playing us, but I dont. It was a logical time for Saban to move. It made sense given the timing. Plus he was apparently offered some extremely valuable side deals involving energy production. The screw-up was on our side -- hurt feelings, questionable loyalty, leaks and power grabs f'd it completely up. UT Admin + BMDs = Kremlin level plotting. For his part, Sexton was reacting, not controlling. He did his job and made the most of the situation.

As to the CS and Herman hires, I dont view them as the same. Steve Patterson had an agenda with his hires, not necessarily grounded in producing winning sports teams. And he accomplished what he set out to accomplish. Herman, on the other hand, was probably the hottest up and coming coaching name available at that moment. IMO, most anyone would have hired him.

However, I'm sure the coach at McCallum would be happy as Fenves' top pick
 
I was in favor of the Herman hire based on what he did at Houston against the likes of FSU and the land thrives. However, two years in a row and the team is completely unprepared for the first game is unacceptable. Herman is quickly proving to be another good group five coach that is not so good as a power five coach, especially at Texas with all the added Political Bs that goes with the position. From what i have seen in this game, I like maryland’s Play calling much better than Texas. Switch Canada for Beck and I think Texas is up by four touchdowns. Welcome to the wasteland of not being relevant yet again.
 
Sam clearly likes uptempo. I just don't understand why we slowed it down in the 3rd quarter. Plus they were cramping bad at the end of the 1st half.

That seems to be Herman's key weakness. The Bro Code. He wants his boys. This unwillingness to recognize the issues created by some of his assistant-bro hires and quickly deal with them is probably what Herman has most in common with Charlie.

Joe agree with everything you said except for a different take on this quote. When did Texas have to resort to "the hottest thing going"? Why not go for the best proven Power 5 coach and work down a couple from that list? Texas expects nothing else.
