Texas vs. KSU ( Warning Explicit Levity Used)

Another freshman right hander Jon Roblez is the new KSU pitcher.

He hits Carter with his first pitch and that may be indeed be intentional after the theatrics by Barrera after his homer.

These announcers suit this game because they both as someone on this board use to say from Sulpher Springs "suck dead bears."

Hinojosa bats and Carter steals second.
He walks to put two on.

Shaw bats with two on and one down.
The count runs full and he flies to shallow center for two down.

Clemens bats with two away and two on.
The runners go on a double steal and he is out on what looked like a rugby scrum at third.

That retires the side and Texas takes a 9-7 lead to the bottom of the tenth.

A two run lead and needing three outs, what could happen?
An easy win coming. Am I right?

Wow, after balking in a run, we survive, with Payton catching a deep fly for the third out.
One starter was on his game for this series. That won't get it in tournament time.

Culbreth stay in and faces Brown leading off.

He grounds to third for one away.

Santigate bats with one down.
He walks on four pitches and hear we go again.

Here is DeBord, who is terrible facing Culbreth with little command of his pitches. It's the unhittable object vs. the movable strike zone. Who wins?
Nobody wins as grounder to Gurwitz and his throw to first is dropped Clemens for an error.
Put this game in a time capsule for later viewing by future civilizations.

Runners on the corners as Skip comes out.
He leaves him in for some reason.

Anderson bats with one out and the tying runs on base.
Now a balk is called and a run scores to make it 9-8 and the tying run is now at second.
A ground ball to second is two outs as the runner goes to third.

Meyer bats with two down and the tying run at third.
Dear God in heaven make it stop!
A fly ball to center stops the madness.

Texas wins 9-8. Burn the tapes and never speak of this game again.

The best thing about this game is that it is finally over!

The best baseball I saw today was that Bugs Bunny cartoon I posted in the OP.

I must go let my brain clear from so much bad baseball in four hours.

I will talk or type at you people later.

I have two observations. One, we are not very good. Two, that is a really piddly ballpark at K-State, and there was a bunch of empty seats, based on the one sweep of the camera of the stands. Their seniors playing their last, good weather, playing us. Seems that would have drawn some sort of decent crowd. When the announcers stated "the crowd is really getting into it", I'm guessing that all dozen fans stood up and cheered at once. Anyhow, getting back to my first observation. We still don't play well as we should, against what should have been an inferior opponent.

This team is exactly what they showed this weekend. 3 outs in the 9th away and 2 runs to spare for a series sweep. And a run away from losing the series to the worst team in the Big 12 and Kansas St.'s version of the Bad News Bears. They're not good enough to sweep the doormat team most others did, and not good enough to avoid tinkering on the edge of losing the damn series to them. Almost any other conference team would have stole this series from us.

They walked into the weekend with hosting still on the line if they finish solid. And that's what they produce when their back is against the wall??? Let's face it, they're just not very good at all and likely will go 1-2 in the conf tourney and even get booted in a regional on the road. I certainly don't expect them to win either, regardless of strong pitching in those tourneys. Our bats suck too much to ever be consistent enough to win the games needed for a tourney championship. What a colossal let-down...again.
