The second game of the series against KSU finds Texas needing to sweep the series to finish in a tie for fourth in the conference with Tech.

The Horns have the tie breaker and would be the fourth seed against fifth seed Tech in the Tourney with a sweep.
Anything less and the scenario is reversed with Tech being the fourth seed and home team against Texas in the first game of the Tourney for both teams.

Tech as predicted swept WVU with a third game 4-0 win this afternoon.

Tonight Texas sends Senior right hander Nathan Thornhill at 6-2 and an era or 1.75.

So there goes the four seed and Texas will finish in fifth place in the conference. They will be the visiting team against Tech in their first game of the Conference Tourney.

I think we can most likely dismiss the idea of hosting a Regional now unless the Horns win the Tournament.

That was a bad loss against a very bad team and we made their Senior Night a success.

That sets up a nothing game tomorrow. Why pitch French when he has been sick?

The game is late afternoon on a Sunday when all other teams in the Tournament are resting.

It's on to OKC now and see what happens there.

There is one more game tomorrow, of course.
I don't see how we get a home regional at this point. We are 12-11 in the Big XII, and will finish in fifth place.
We'll go to a regional, and like every year, if we can get hot at that point, we could win it. But it will require all three starters pitching well on the same weekend, and when has that happened? It seems like one weekend one of them is sensational, and the other two have off nights.
Maybe it will all come together when it counts, but I don't see it being very likely this year. Hope I'm wrong.

What's even more embarrassing than blowing that lead in the 9th...we were handed at least 2 (if not all 3) runs we scored in the 4th. For sure 2 were given to us by errors and elementary fielding mishaps. Wasn't even close to being borderline normal errors. No other team in conference makes that awful of plays.

So our offense plated 1 legit run the entire game. They deserved to lose that game. Should've been 2-1 and game over going into bottom 9th. Was another gutless, limp performance at the plate. We don't deserve to host, aside from doing the impossible and winning the tourney. And don't count on that to even come close to happening. Sorry, but this team doesn't have it....period.
