Since the first game they played in Austin where Yvonne’s last second shot gave the Horns a 62-60 win, these two teams have mirrored each other records. Unfortunately, for Texas their record since the ISU game is 1-3 while ISU is 3-1. Both come into Saturday’s game in Ames at 3-6. ISU is looking to stay on their current upward path while Texas seeks to reverse course from a two game losing streak.
Chelsea Poppens (#33, 6-2 Jr. F) and Anna Prins (#55, 6-7 Jr. C) at 13.7 ppg and 10.3 ppg are the two ISU players averaging double figures in points. Nikki Moody (#4, 5-8 Fr. G) and Hallie Christofferson (#5, 6-3 Soph. F) have averages of 9.8 ppg and 9.2 ppg, respectively. Poppens (44-94, 46.8%), Prins (37-83, 44.6%) and Christofferson (25-60, 41.7%) are the only Cyclones hitting over 40% from the field. Every player that has played in conference except for Fallon Ellis (#32, 5-11 Fr. G/F) has attempted at least 3 treys. Poppens is scoring all her points inside the arc as she is 0-3 from BTA in Big 12 play. The main threat from BTA for ISU is Christofferson who is hitting much better from there than she is from inside the arc—12-25, 48.0%. Lauren Mansfield (#10, 5-7 Sr. G)at 40.0% (12-30) is other Cyclone making at least 40% of her treys. Several Cyclones are hitting 3s in the 30% range: Prins (5-15, 33.3%); Brynn Williamson (#22, 5-11 Fr. G/F; 16-49, 31.0%); Chassidy Cole (#23, 5-8 Sr. G; 4-13, 30.8%) and Amanda Zimmerman (#42, 6-1 Jr. F; 1-3, 33.3%).
Poppens (10.4 rpg) leads ISU in rebounding. She is one of two players that are averaging a double double in Big 12 play. Williams of BU is the other. Christofferson ranks second in rebounding at 5.2 rpg. Prins and Moody average 4.7 and 4.2 rpg, respectively. Four Cyclones have at least 10 assists. Moody with 38 is tops while Mansfield is second with a total of 28 assists. Prins has six blocks to lead ISU in that category while PG Moody is second with five. Mansfield (13) and Poppens (12) rank first and second in steals.
Six players have played in all nine conference games to date. Williamson has played in 8. All seven are averaging at least 23 minutes per game. Poppens, Moody and Mansfield are all averaging over 30 mpg. Zimmerman and Kelsey Harris (#3, 5-10 Soph. G) have played in seven games while Ellis has played in four. Poppens and Moody have been constants in the ISU starting lineup. Poppens, Moody, Prins, Mansfield and Williamson started against Texas in the first game. Since then, only Mansfield has kept her starting spot. Prins, Williamson and Cole have started in different games during the last four games for ISU. In the last game, Williamson and Cole got the start along side Mansfield, Poppens and Moody.
Against Texas, five Cyclones are averaging double figures in their career: Zimmerman and Moody are at 14.0 ppg; Poppens averages 12.7 ppg while Christofferson and Williamson average 10 ppg.
Chassidy (17.3 ppg), Ashleigh (10.8 ppg) and Yvonne (10.6 ppg) lead the Horns in scoring. Ashley’s 44.3% on 6.8 FG attempts from the field leads the team. Yvonne (35-85) and Nneka (14-34) are tied for second at 41.2%. Chassidy (55-135, 40.7%) and Cokie (18-45, 40.0%) are the others hitting at least 40% of their FG attempts. Chassidy (21-54, 38.9%), Chelsea (9-26, 34.6%) and Ashleigh (9-29, 31.0%) are the trio hitting at least 30% from BTA for the Horns. Four Horns have gotten to the FT line at least 20 times. Ashleigh (20-32, 62.5%) has been there the most. Chassidy (25-30, 83.3%) has been the most accurate. Chelsea (17-24, 70.8%) is the only other Horn over 70% who has more than 10 FT attempts.
Ashley and Nneka lead the team in rebounding with an average of 5.8 rpg. Chassidy (5.4 rpg)and Cokie (5.1 rpg) are the two others averaging at least 5 rpg. Yvonne (58 assists) and Ashleigh (30 assists) are the only two Horns in double figures in assists. Ashley has 19 blocks to lead the team while Nneka’s 7 ranks second. Chelsea, Cokie and Anne Marie each have five blocks. In steals, Texas has four players with at least 11, led by Yvonne’s 19. Ashleigh (17), Chassidy (14) and Ashley (11) are the others.Texas core rotation is eight players: Ashley, Cokie, Yvonne, Ashleigh and Chassidy are usually the starters. Chelsea, Nneka and Anne Marie come off the bench to the tune of between 12 and 22 minutes a game. Kayla, Tiffany and Ronisha have also gotten into conference games. Chelsea sat out Wednesday’s game against KSU with an ankle injury. Nothing so far if she will be available to play Saturday. If not, expect Tiffany to get more minutes than the 8 she is averaging.
Projected starting lineups are based on the last game. Changes due to injury or other reasons could change them.

Texas ISU
Ashley (6-4) Christofferson (6-3)
Cokie (6-4) Poppens (6-2)
Yvonne (5-7) Moody (5-8)
Ashleigh (5-8) Mansfield (5-7)
Chassidy (5-10) Cole (5-8) [/pre]
Moody (14 pts), Williamson (10 pts) and Christofferson (13 pts) all were in double figures in the first game. Poppens (9 pts) and Prins (9 pts) just missed making it five Cyclones in double figures. While Horns did a good job of shutting down Poppens (1-11 from the field), she hit 7-8 from the FT line. Meanwhile, Moody was hitting 6-11 from the field. Our posts will need to do a similar job on Poppens while our guards will have to force tougher shots from ISU’s perimeter players. While the Texas posts didn’t individually stand out offensively, as a group they hit on 6-16 to help out in the scoring column. ISU was unable to stop Chassidy and Yvonne in the first game.

While Texas owns in most of the categories, this could end being a nailbiter same as the first game was. Texas did a good job shutting down ISU’s top scorers in Poppens and Prins, holding them to 9 pts each. ISU was unable to slow down Texas’ top scorers in Chassidy and Yvonne. Both teams had good shooting games with Texas better from BTA and ISU from the FT line. While Texas was coming into the first game off a loss to Baylor, they had a few days earlier beaten A&M in College Station. ISU, meanwhile, was coming in on a four game losing streak and desperate to win their first league game. This time around, the roles are reversed. Texas is coming in on a 2 game losing streak, desperately in need of a win while ISU has won three of their last four. Included in that stretch was a 2 point loss to A&M in College Station and a win in the game following that one. They will be the ones full of confidence while Texas will be looking to put lightning in a bottle.
Game time is 1 pm CST. The game will be online but not available otherwise for viewing. The Cyclone Zone online game feed is not available through CBSsports.com or ESPN3. KVET 1300 AM radio will carry the game.
