Texas vs Idaho

Hopefully there will be more people KINDA like me. I live in Dallas and this is the first season I have bought a Season Ticket because I’m excited about Coach Vic. I say kinda because I’ve had conflicts for every home game so far (it didn’t help I was in Mexico all of November), so I’ve watched on TV/DVR.

Ironically, the first game I will see in person is the upcoming game in Vegas. I was hoping the schedule would have been released earlier to be honest.

I think the only conference game I have to miss is Iowa St of all things.
I plan to try to be more proactive in finding someone to take my ticket when I can’t make it by getting to know my seat neighbors to see if they’d be interested in a plus one occasionally. Maybe that person will get “hooked” and become a regular. Wait, was that a pun?

Agree with the comments about making it an event. I was a student from 2005-2009. I didn't go to every game by any means but I was there for many games. (How does attendance compare at that time?) I remember the FEC being a great venue with lots going on. Good student groups in attendance that made it fun. But I think there needs to be "other" incentives. Some of these may already be in place, but halftime events, interactive TO things (e.g. Kiss Cam, Dance Cam), possibly some live music, and it would be great for people (families and students mainly) to be able to interact with the players some. (I get COVID means this is unlikely.) Get the LHN to show more crowd areas during breaks and some people may like that?

I think there are a couple of things right now that affect attendance. First is the schedule at home. It's hard to get excited about teams that we should beat handily. Two, its the holiday season. I for one am doing multitude of things on the weekends including getting ready for family visiting, attending holiday get togethers, etc. I will also tell you that personally, working from home has affected my weekday attendance. It used to be easy to stay in town, have dinner, and enjoy the game. Now I find it easier to finish up work, have a drink and watch on LHN instead of driving 45 minutes in. All of that will change for me after the holidays. I'm going to go in to work on Wednesdays. That will make it simple to see the weekday games. And the weekends will be opened back up as well.

I was a student in the early to mid-90s and our athletic package tickets were usually upstairs - had a better shot to get in the lower bowl if you were going to see the Tom Penders Runnin’ Horns.

This is a good point. One of the reasons my son didn't attend any games was that a student pass is pretty expensive for a kid with limited income. Now that we're aware, we plan to "sponsor" him next year. But really, for all of the lightly attended games, wouldn't it be in the University's best interest to subsidize tickets to get butts in seats? Any potential recruit tuning in to one of our home games would have to wonder if anyone at Texas really cares about UT women's basketball. We have the coach, we have the players - how do we get the fans?

I respect your dedication. I have used the fact that I live in a north-of-Dallas suburb as a reason why I can't attend games You have rendered that "excuse" to be a bit less valid. I will try harder.
