She was a much better matchup against Idaho’s speed than Lauren. I think we’ll see more than a few games where Vic has to sub athleticism over experience but Lauren seemed to be in good spirits on the bench.Nice to see Lattimore starting to make an impact. Hope she can be that effective in the B12.
Y'all know more than me. But during recruiting, Hunter was sometimes listed as PG. And then when it dawned on me that Hunter and Harmon both played on the same HS team and both were the same class, I got confused. Did Harmon share PG duties with Rori? Or just switch from Guard to PG when Rori was on the bench? I have no problems with Matharu or Hunter being PG2 when Rori is on the bench.

Falling in love with Rori. Not just her play, but her personality, work ethic and attention to detail. Smart young lady.Well spoken Ladies
Represent Texas well.
If there’s anything that causes me concern about Vic leaving for aggy more than the fact its his alma mater, it’s the relative disregard shown for the WBB program by the students and fans. What do we have to do to work on attendance? Panning the audience or lack of it is sad. A little over 1k show up yesterday. Pathetic.
True but know that Aggy only shows up like that when Texas comes to town. They don’t normally have a crowd like that.If there’s anything that causes me concern about Vic leaving for aggy more than the fact its his alma mater, it’s the relative disregard shown for the WBB program by the students and fans.
Absolutely. And now that the women's volleyball season is over, now would be a great time for Vic, Deconte, and all of the Texas brass to implore people to show up just like they did for volleyball. I know that Gregory being on campus plays a roll in that, but those same fans and students need to be at the wbb games. If there’s anything that causes me concern about Vic leaving for aggy more than the fact its his alma mater, it’s the relative disregard shown for the WBB program by the students and fans.
Agreed. But you also have to remember when Coach Aston had her success for a few years, one of the things that she was frustrated with was also trying to get more students/ fans to come to games. It’s so hard to compare Volleyball because attendance at the SE Missouri game, for instance, would have sold out Gregory gym.
I do miss the Jody Conradt days when we often filled the lowered level at least. For those of you old enough, seeing fans in the upper level was truly amazing.
Sadly, due to COVID Vic really hasn’t had a chance to prove what his teams can pull. These pre-conference games against nobody teams have never pulled large crowds. The Tech game will be the first true test of the Vic era but even that one won’t have students fully back from the break yet.
Agreed. But you also have to remember when Coach Aston had her success for a few years, one of the things that she was frustrated with was also trying to get more students/ fans to come to games.
It will never be what it was under Jody because Austin has grown so much and there are a lot more options for entertainment. Which I think Vic also has to understand.
You're not in a place like these small college towns in Mississippi or College Station where you don't have anything better to do but to go to a WBB game against Idaho. So it does matter the who the opponent is.
You also bring up a great point about Gregory not being very big, which makes it easier to sell out. But the push for more students /fan support should still be an important thing for the athletic department.
He is not going to leave Texas. If there’s anything that causes me concern about Vic leaving for aggy more than the fact its his alma mater, it’s the relative disregard shown for the WBB program by the students and fans.
My opinion, that can't be verified, is that the permanent drop in women's game is due to Longhorn Network. I also remember the days where the lower tier overflow would sometimes have people seated in the upper tier.Agreed. Nailed it! Between traffic and parking you will find an awful lot of people who just aren't going to hassle with it when it is on TV.And I myself have said on cold, rainy miserable mid-week games that I'd rather sit home and watch the WBB game on LHN rather than struggle through rush hour traffic when people are driving like maniacs in the rain.
Actually, it's ironic you talk about football and events. When CDC arrived, he looked at the numbers of football attendees and openly talked about how to make it more of an event. He explicitly said, "We need to give them a reason to leave their living rooms and tvs and come down to stadium" Thus, he started and has been constantly expanding "Longhorn Blvd", with food trucks, carnival games, pre and post game concerts. So, we don't hear the same things wrt the football team. People go to football games because they are events. It's not about whether it was on tv, but more about if you were "there". For whatever reason women's basketball is not an event. UT needs to better promote their women's basketball (looking at you CDC). They've got the right coach, and are attracting great players. They are, and will continue to be fun to watch. Need to grab the hearts of the students.
Well, speaking for myself, I now prefer to watch football on TV over "being there". Your overall point probably still stands though. So, we don't hear the same things wrt the football team. People go to football games because they are events. It's not about whether it was on tv, but more about if you were "there".
