Texas vs. Baylor

Pimp Daddy
Another pretty evenly matched series that Texas has a chance to win, but will they?

Can we score some runs for our pitching? On the road the games are usually more high scoring so we may have to.

Tech is in Norman and could easily get swept so a chance to get out of the conference cellar and into the tournament. It seems so strange every time I say in last place in the conference.

Game is on FSW so no video link tonight.

Well hello there as hornfans went down on the first pitch of the game.

So we missed half the game on the thread, but I have seen it all on tv and the same old things happening.

French is struggling with command and probably with his tendinitis too. That with a some errors and French's wildness gave Bayor two unearned runs in the second.

Otherwise both teams have scored a run and it's 3-1 Baylor going to the bottom of the fifth.

French back in trouble again on an infield singe.

A swinging K is out one.

Another single puts two on.

Another HBP loads the bases with one away.

A K looking is out two and keeps Texas in the game, but need one more.

A ground ball to second gets French out of yet another inning.

Gutty performance by French but Texas trails 3-1 after five complete.

As expected Tech is getting hammered 8-0 by OU in the sixth, but it matters not if we can't win. Of course if we coould have hit Tech like everybody else we wouldn't be tied with them for last place.

Weis leads off the sixth and flies out to center for out one.

Hinojosa also flies out to center for out two.

Payton flies out to deep left on the track to retire the side.

The Baylor pitcher is Max Warner an Austin native and he gets Texas in order as Baylor leads 3-1 to the bottom of six.

Duke comes out to the mound to start the sixth for Texas.

A ground ball to short and Hinojosa fields and uncorks a high throw that pulls Marlow off the bag for an error.

Now a ground ball to B. Marlow and it goes off his glove and it's another error to put two on.

Here comes Skip and he motions for righty Hollingsworth to come in to throw maybe an errorless ground ball.

Hollingsworth from Waco now pitching against Warner from Austin for Baylor.

The first pitch goes off Felts mitt for a passed ball and Texas has had plenty of those this year and it moves the runners up as the batter was trying to sac bunt, now there is no need.

A pop foul down the line and Ty Marlow takes the ball almost out of his brothers glove behind his head for an out and it's a SF to make it 4-1.

A little ground ball and Hollingsworth fields it and throws home wild and its another error and a FC to make it 5-1 as the batter goes to second.

A double off the wall in left makes it 6-1 and the wheels have come off now.

A K swinging is out two.

A ground ball to short ends the inning.

After six inning Baylor with a 6-1 leads looks huge and unless something happens that hasn't in conference play this season probably unsurmountable.

Felts leads off the seventh and flies out to left for the fourth fly ball out in a row and eight straight Texas batters now.

What do you know a fly ball to left is out two by Shaw.

Ty Marlow with a fly ball to center to retire the side in order again. It's a fly out fest for Texas.

To the stretch Baylor leads 6-1.

A ground ball to third and Weis throws it into the dirt, but Ty Marlow digs it out for out one.

Ty Marlow has dug out several low throws or Texas would be much further behind.

A ground ball to second is out two.

A pop up to second is the third out as it starts to rain in Waco.

Please no rain delays. Baylor leads 6-1 after seven innings.

B. Marlow leads off and is another fly ball out to center.

Johnson finally ends the fly ball and consecutive out streaks with a double lined down the line in left.

Hall grounds to short and the shortstop boots it and Baylor has an error their first.

Runners on the corners with one out.

Baylor coach out and brings in a lefty to face Weis who has been mystified by lefties lately.

Weis goes back to the fly ball to center for a SF that scores Johnson to make it 6-2 with two down.

Hinojosa grounds a ball off the pitcher's glove and the shortstop barehands it and throws out C.J. to retire the side

Bottom of the eighth coming and it's now 6-2 Baylor.

Culbreth in now to pitch for Texas in the eighth and his first pitch is popped up to Weis for one away.

The next batter is walked to put a man on.

He promptly picks him off first for out two.

A fly ball to Payton in right ends the inning.

Last chance for Texas as we go to the ninth with Baylor still leading 6-2.

Payton leads off the ninth against the lefty Bare.
Yes, the announcers had to say he was a Baylor Bear Bare.

Payton grounds a single through the right side to reach.

Felts on a 3-1 pitch grounds into a 5-4-3 double play for two away.

Stell pinch hits for Shaw and appropiately flies out to right to end the game.

Baylor wins 6-2 on errors worth five unearned runs, passed balls, wild pitches, walks and of course little hitting by Texas.

Same old same old. Tech getting smashed still by OU in a weather delay in the ninth 8-0 if it matters.

OU-Tech game suspended till tomorrow, but I think you can safely call it another Tech loss to keep pace with Texas so to speak at 5-11 and have the tie breaker.

Ouch again. That was a brutal game.

You know it's bad when you tune in to Texas All Access from Texassports.com for the post game radio show with Craig Way and you get this.

The audio was ours but it was the Baylor All Access site with all the Baylor information below it,

Seems like whenever we change pitchers, bad things happen, even if it's not the new pitcher's fault (although it usually is).
