Texas vs. Baylor DH-Game 2

The last game of the regular season is here. It will determine if Texas has winning or losing campaign for this part of the season, sitting at 25-25.

Who knows how this game will go or be played, as both teams are in the Big 12 Tournament now. With it starting on Wednesday, both teams may not go all out. The pitching choices will be interesting to see.

Daniel Castano, a left hander will start for the Bears. He is a regular starter, but won't go very long.

Johnson leads off for Texas, batting righty.
Just like he did in game one, he slams a grounder through the hole on the left side, for a single.

Baker bats righty, with one on.
He bunts and the pitcher's throw pulls the second baseman off of first, for an E-1, that puts two on.

Hinojosa bats righty, with two on.
He fouls off two bunt attempts.
Then lines a drive off of the pitcher's glove, there is no play and it loads the bases.

Barrera bats righty, with the bases loaded, he is the DH.
Coach to the mound and now goes back to the dugout.
A foul pop on the right side and the first baseman makes the catch with his back to the plate.
Johnson tags and the throw home is by the third baseman covering home and another runs scores on the E-3. It's a SF for Barrera.

Texas leads 2-0.

Cantu bats with a runner at second and one down.
He singles up the middle and another run is in.

Texas leads 3-0.

Shaw bats lefty, with one on and one down.
A ground ball to first and it's a 3-6 force, for two away.

Gurwitz bats righty, with one on and two down.
He is back from his exile for dogging a play yesterday.
A single to center and Shaw goes to third.

Travis Jones plays first in the game, he bats righty, with runners on the corners and two down.
He walks to load the bases again.

McKenzie bats righty, playing third in the game, with the bases loaded and two down.
He slaps a high fast ball to center for a single and two more runs are in.

Texas leads 5-0.

Johnson, the lead off man is back up, as Texas has batted around.
He bats righty, with two on and two outs.
A ground ball to first and the 3-1 play will finally end the big inning.

Texas with some help by Baylor and five singles score five, they lead 5-0, as Baylor comes to bat. This could be a long and strange game as advertised.
 
Freshman Kyle Johnston, the hard throwing right hander, with command problems will get the start.

Logan Brown, the center fielder, leads off, batting righty.
A ground ball up the middle, gets through, for a lead single.

The right fielder is Adam Toth, batting lefty, with one on.
He takes a fast ball on the outside corner, for a called strike three and one out.

Third baseman, Duncan Wendal, bats righty, with one on and one down.
A wild pitch sends the runner to second.
A full count and a borderline low pitch is ball four.

Cameron Esthay, the left fielder bats lefty, with two on and one down.
A 2-0 count and out comes Skip and the control issues are still around.
Need to settle down.
Another full count and a half swing liner to short and Hinojosa has it on the run, then fires back to second for a 6U-4 double play, to retire the side. Nice play to get Johnston out of an early jam.

Baker goes and the throw is not held by the second baseman and it's a stolen base.
He takes a big hook, for a called strike three, two away.

Johnston is back for his second inning of work, for the Horns.

The Bear DH, Mitch Price, leads off batting righty.

A full count reached and he walks to put two on.
Johnston back in a jam again, after the double play got him out of one, last inning.

The catcher Cameron Miller bats lefty, with two on.
A fly ball to center is caught by Gurwitz, for one away.

Justin Arrington, the shortstop, bats lefty, with two on and one out.
A ground ball up the middle and Baker flags it behind the bag and takes it there and his throw to first is a 4U-6 double play, that again removes Johnston, from a jam.

Kirkland will stay in to pitch the third for the Bears.

Shaw leads off batting lefty, for Texas.
A line shot right and he keeps motoring to second and beats the throw, for a lead double.

Gurwitz bats righty, with a man on second.
A foul pop up, behind the plate is handled by the catcher, for one away.

Jones bats righty, with one on and one down.
Shaw goes and is a dead duck at third, got to make sure you can make it, to go there, your already in scoring position.
So Jones bat now with two gone and grounds out 4-3 to end the promising inning quickly.

Johnston back out for the Horns, he need a s good inning, he can't keep getting out of jams with double plays.

McLean leads off for the Bears, batting righty. He plays second.
A big chop is cut off by McKenzie, at third and the 5-3 is out one.

He flies out to shallow center, for the second out.

Another fly ball to center and the side is retired in order, the good inning is secured by Johnston.
