Texas vs Arizona

Damn, we are in Vegas too. I’d guess the mens game is 50/50 of happening, the way cancellations have been going.

Maybe they can get some small school to come play the women? I saw Tennessee men did a intra-squad scrimmage when their game got cancelled an hour before tip.

Noooo! I made the trip specifically to see this game and my first one in person this season. What a bummer. I’m sure the team is really disappointed it was such a highly anticipated game

On the other hand, I’m really glad the Texas team is not having a virus problem.

This really sucks! I don't mean to be a killjoy but with this Omicron variant being so highly contagious, I think we're getting ready to see a rash of these cancellations in the coming weeks.

Nine games (mostly) canceled or postponed tomorrow and Miami forfeited to Duke
aTm game with Rice canceled

Replacement with Univ. of San Diego found. That's incredible.

And I'm looking at San Diego's schedule, they just played Saturday and lost to Arizona State. I'm pleasantly stunned this game is happening.

SD is a decent little team with a 7-3 record. They just played yesterday (Sat) so they’ll be a bit gassed. They beat the Idaho team by 20 that we just beat by 40. They haven’t played any ranked teams to give a better perspective.

Several players 6’ + including a 6’4”.

It might be fun but we should win soundly if we take them seriously.

Really ESPN?.. They make mention of Arizona being 10-0 with a win over a Top 25 team but mention nothing about us having road wins against two top 25 teams, one of which was the defending national champion, and a narrow road loss in OT to another top 10 team. Being as the University of Texas is "partnered" with ESPN, you'd think they could do better.
Arizona-Texas women's game in Vegas canceled

Just discovered all this this morning AT THE AIRPORT waiting for my flight. Oh well, should be an easy ticket to acquire.

Typical ESPN drivel. Their attitude is if it’s not UConn then who cares. More importantly, thank you University of San Diego!

Yesterday USD played Arizona State and lost 60-79. People have mentioned that they're pretty good sports for willing to turn around and play us today. They are. Looking at the stats, I see an astounding 15 players on their roster played in a losing effort

Yeah, about 5 were small minutes, but still that's a lot of minutes played for a lot of players! Also, they commit an average of 19 turnovers a game. Should be fun.

I wonder if Vic had to promise a visit next year to there place? Or a home and away deal. Guess we’ll find out next year?

I hope the gals still have their team hats on despite playing a new and different team. Wonder how you get and watch film, make adjustments, etc., overnight? Should be interesting.

I hope this isn’t a watch what you wish for moment… nope… no… I did not just type that out loud.

Come on Horns! Every opponent is a worthy opponent but you’ve got this!!!

Sincere gratitude to San Diego for stepping up.

Too bad about this…why can’t people just wear the damn masks and social distance? Why? Just stupid selfishness….:brickwall:

Why are some teams granted a forfeit due to COVID protocol, but not ours? Doesn’t seem fair regardless if we found a new opponent or not. What am I missing?

If I’m not mistaken the forfeits we gave seen that resulted in a loss were not due to COVID restrictions. They can’t go they have COVID. There was another reason Duke got the forfeit win I think. TCUs next Games we postponed due to coming but no forfeits went to either team

Ah okay. Thanks for clarifying!

Right. Big block of WBB on ESPN today:
  • 12:00 Michigan vs Baylor
  • 2:00 WNBA Draft Lottery
  • 2:30 UCONN vs Louisville
  • 4:30 San Diego vs Texas
Be aware, the game against SD is most likely being televisted on an alternate ESPN channel because UConn-Louisville haven't started the 4th quarter on ESPN

Lattimore is so smooth to the basket esp for her size. Our offense obvious isn’t as smooth without rori running point. I can see more teams targeting her to get her out of the game with fouls in future games.
