While his numbers overall are fairly average, Sthele has been a real workhorse for us this year in relief. Gotta have guys like him. He should be well appreciated.

Yes we beat the MIGHTY UTRGV team and per Chop we have the #1 pitching staff in the Big 12. Really happy to have that with the tied for 5th in the big 12 team. Lets hope the season improves. TCU in town this weekend so maybe we can win a series.

It's not "per Chop"--we have the #1 pitching staff in the Big 12--one of the toughest conferences in the college game. It's in the Big 12 stats--linked below. Select 2022 season and it's all laid out. The numbers may be slightly different after Tuesday's games, but we're still out in front as #1. Okla State is the only team close to us in pitching.

Keep winning conference series. 2-1 over and over again. Better yet, sweep some of them 3-0. If we do that, we'll probably win the conference. Tech may stand in our way. Tech is an elite winners' bracket at Omaha type of team this year. They're ranked #3 or #4 in the Nation. We took them to extra innings twice, and skunked them once. We'll be set for a big playoff run to Omaha. We're sitting about where we were last year.

While the pitching is the best in the conference, it is a bit down from last year (but still real good). But the big thing is that the bats are crazy good this year. We're arguably even better overall than last year.

This is the same -guy- that insinuated we should get rid of our coaching staff when we started off poorly last season. I wouldn't expect a lot of reasonable dialog about baseball from him.

Two things:
1). We won a series from a 17-10, unranked OU team. Omaha-caliber teams sweep those.
2) While I don’t think we should get rid of the staff now that they are here, I do think that Pierce should not be the coach at UT. Maybe he’ll win at Texas, but he did not have enough experience to be hired at UT (only 5 years as HC).

Not so fast.

Last year, Mississippi State won the National Championship. In their championship season...

They split 2-1 with the following teams:

1. Tulane
2. LSU
3. Ole Miss
4. South Carolina
5. Notre Dams


They split 1-1 with the following teams:

1. Kent State

They split 1-2 with the following:

1. Vanderbilt
2. Missouri

They were swept 0-3 by the following:

1. Arkansas

The highlighted teams are much lesser teams than this year's Oklahoma team (which is a marginal playoff/Regional team).

Which, if my math is correct, is 5 more years than Gus had when we hired him.
