Texas v. UTRGV April 26, 2022

The crowd will not be appeased. Sthele will try to bring it on home. No Nixon tonight.

These little Valley jackasses need to hold onto their bats and stop throwing them at our dugout after their swings.

Biggest takeaway—this is the first good outing by a starter in a mid-week game that I can recall.

Zane Morehouse = Man of the game

A very workanlike midweek win for Texas. Another mid week game on the road in front of another record crowd. I know that it is in everyone's interests for Texas to have these make good games in Corpus, Huntsville, Edinburg, San Marcos every once in a while but in the future Texas cant have all of them in the same year like this year especially when you also have a trip to South Carolina with two mid week games there. A maximum of three mid week games a year on the road should be the bar. Hopefully Morehouse is ready to step up at the four spot but we need more of a sample size to get any kind of feel. On now to what will be the biggest series of the year to date and one that will really tell us if Texas can keep its national seed hopes alive.

So we get a Tuesday win on the road while Tech and TCU lose at home. These Tuesday games are not the slam-dunks some of the baseball experts on here think they are, and we aint dead yet.

Lots of people in the crowd packed tight. I liked the Orange UT Sombrero the lady wore…most were Vaqueros though … Nice they cheered for Nixon.

If this was the West Mall forum, somebody (other than me) might say something like: 'I heard the Rio Grande Valley is trending Republican, but this is ridiculous!'

-or-

'With the crowd loudly chanting "Nixon! Nixon! Nixon!", it sounded like the 1968 GOP Convention or something...'

So I somehow missed the tradition of trading your baseball helmet for a football helmet after a homerun and then get pounded on the head by the team.
The first time I noticed it was last week before the spring game and I thought it was just because of the spring game.

I can think of another pitcher, born in South Texas (born in Refugio--then later, raised in Alvin), who put great emphasis on leg workouts...

Nolan loved the hill and used it as part of his daily conditioning program. He would run it 50 times a day going forwards and backwards, doing lunges, shuffles, cariocas, sprints, etc.

Zach Calhoon weighs in: Guys, if you want to throw harder, build up your legs (especially your and gluts). Super strong and flexible legs are the foundation of everything you do. And as long as you maintain hamstring and hip mobility, the stronger your legs, the faster you will throw.
