Texas v UCSB Game Three

Payton hits hard shot that gets through first baseman and he ends up on second driving in Weiss to make it 10-4. They score it a double though seemed like it could have gone either way. Bats alive in this inning.

Hinojosa hits it to short and they catch Payton in run down and he is thrown out at third. Hinolosa on first with one out. Ball was hit hard but that is another base running mistake for Horns.

Montalbano K's and Carter grounds to short to end inning.

Horns in double figures for first time this season. 6 full done 10-4 Texas.

UCSB plated two in the 7th, Horns responded with one in the bottom of the seventh. Neither team scored in 8th and its 11-6 headed to the ninth inning.

Knebel came in and pitched the 8th getting two strikeouts and a pop out.

Knebel gives up a walk to lead off inning;
Strikeout swinging for out number one.

Grounder to third, gets lead runner at second but not quite fast enough to turn double play. One out to sweep.

Chopper right to Knebel and easy throw gets the third out. Horns win 11-6 and sweep series.

Well I'm back and I see we still are kind of sloppy in the field and with the base running.

We need to clean that up and keep the bats going and we can become a good team to go with the pitching.

Always nice to see a freshman bat (Ben Johnson). Hope this isn't just an anomaly and that he can play some defense to go with it - to have him in the lineup regularly. We could really use some bats.

It's also nice to see our HR numbers go up from 1 in the first 14 games to 3 now, though it may still be among the worst in all of college baseball...
