Texas v Texas Tech March 15-17

:yippee::bounce1::bounce2::yippee::bounce1::bounce2::yippee::bounce1::bounce2::yippee:

Huge series win to start Big XII play, this murderers row of an early season schedule isnt quite done with top ten arky coming to town for two midweek games and TCU looming next weekend but the Horns are notching huge wins and that will be important when it comes to securing a home regional and maybe if they get really hot a national seed.

Texas up to #4 in Baseball America - highest since 2014
Texas bounced back in a big way after their series loss to Stanford. It was a total team effort on the mound throughout the weekend against Texas Tech. On Friday, Bryce Elder did a solid job in giving up three runs in five innings, but the bullpen duo of Ty Madden and Kamron Fields were even better in combining to throw four scoreless innings. In a loss in Game 2, they got solid work from Blair Henley, who gave up three hits and two runs in seven innings, and in the finale, the bullpen came up big after they got just 2.1 innings out of Coy Cobb to start the game. Six different relievers came in to help hold Tech at bay while the Texas offense chipped away. The Longhorns’ offense didn’t hit on all cylinders, as they collected just ten hits in the three games, but they didn’t have to.

Probably too high, but Top 10 for sure. This will be a telling week for Texas on the national stage. IMHO Texas must split with the pig people and win the series against TCU. Could be weather issues both Saturday and Sunday.

Weve played more top 25 teams than anyone else so far this year. Ill take it.

I like this team.

The mistakes they're making right now I think they'll work out. Looks like the talent is there, just some kinks to unkink.

They've just finished going 6-4 against three top 10 teams in LSU, Tree, and Tceh in spite of bobbles and hiccups.

They have the LOOK, IMHO of a good team, seem polished, relaxed, confident, some glimpses of really, really good play, a kind of "we're not out of this yet" feeling even going into the 9th down 3 or 4 runs.

This team is grinding and learning. I believe a top 10 ranking is deserved based on the results against the best competition. I went to the game yesterday and was shocked how many freshmen we're all over the place. I think we used 6 pitchers yesterday and pretty sure 4 of them are freshmen.

By the end of the year I'm confident the mistakes being made will be fewer. I am most concerned that we can't seem to get a hit before the 6th inning.

I'm relying upon the old "...small sample size..." theory, that is, likely as not they'll have some big innings later in the year based on law of averages.

Or, I've got burnt orange blood, or both.

Hook 'em

Vast majority of losses due to fielding

I was replying to the post about them not getting enough hits early in games, and that we're only about, what, a third through the season, and that maybe with more and more games maybe they'll get those big innings.
