Texas v. Texas State

Cole, I think you can quit worrying about that runner now.

The problem with always requiring your pitchers to be perfect is that they can be every single game and unless the offense can pick up a few games you find yourself constantly in holes like this.

Fly out to center ends inning but Horns now trail 2-0.

Funny part is, I'm sure we'll continue to see sac bunts. Trying to manufacture a run is OK in certain situations. But doing it all the time basically means we're batting to get 2 outs in an inning instead of 3.

Bottom Four:

Montalbano leads off with nice infield single to way deep in hole at short.

Playing games with setting up to bunt leads to check swing easy DP.

Why oh why do we keep doing this?

Flyout in foul territory behind first on first pitch ends inning.

This is painful to watch.

Top 5

This game is painfully remeniscent of the Mizzou game last Saturday night that ended the Big XII tourny run, as Horns could find no offense.

Line shot to short for first out.

That was the 11th homer of the year for Kubitza. I think Texas has like 14 for the year? Texas better sign 2 or 3 power hitters for next year to compete with other offenses.

Thanks to TEASIP and the Dude for links to texassports.tv or .com or whatever. After trying three different computers, I've got an old laptop that shows the video - two desktops on the same LAN show the black screen... now if I can get the projector hooked up to the laptop, then... then... uh, then I'll probably regret it. 2-0? Dang.

Sad to see half the primo seats behind home empty...

Okay, so 2 on 1 out... and...

Tant Shepherd with base hit to left. Runners on first and second.

Lets get a clutch hit now.

Jacksonville choked away a 3-0 lead against Miami in the Gainesville regional. Miami now leading 4-3 in the 9th.

Payton with an awesome bunt for an infield single.

Bases loaded with one down.

Lets get that clutch hit here.

I love small ball but very few small ball teams get to Omaha every year. I love defense and pitching too but you have to have all 3 to be considered a great team. Texas has been over rated this year because they are Texas. There pitching and defense are top 10 but their hitting is not even top 25. If you are going to play small ball then recruit players who have speed and can steal alot of bases and score more runs that way. Then there been several games this year where Texas has been painful to watch while batting.

Weiss up with runners on first and second and two down.

Another slow roller infield single loads bases.

Horns have four hits in inning but just one run.

There are times to play smaill ball in a game and then there are times you just need to let the team swing away.

It is 100 in the shade in Austin with humidity, wonder what the temp is in the sun? Hotter than blazes out there, I would be surprised if pitchers last much longer.
