Texas v. Oklahoma State April 29-May 1, 2022

Is it too late for Pierce to conduct an open tryout for any young men that pitched in high school? I promise he’s not gonna find anything worse than what we have in our bullpen right now.

This bullpen as a whole has been the most disappointing set of Texas relievers in several decades, they aren’t the worst bullpen Texas has had but by far the most disappointing, so much potential and so much just complete inability to live up to that potential. That is on the staff not the coaches, walks and hit batters are all about the pitchers. Texas has at least six more wins if the bullpen isn’t a train wreck. After today I think Texas is staring down a two seed in college station kind of ending and if that doesn’t make you throw up in your mouth…….

10 more wins imho

If we don’t get a regional, they should at least have a heart and put us as the 2 seed in San Marcos or Ft Worth.

Nice work by Olivarez (whom we don’t see enough of).

Last chance. 3 outs. Need 2+ runs.

OK coaching geniuses who think we should fire Pierce, what coaching magic would you like to apply to fix this? If you are a college pitcher and you cannot find the strike zone, I don't think a coach, any coach, is going to be able to help you. Four guys outta the bullpen, and nobody can throw a strike that doesn't add to the batter's slugging percentage. This is on the pitchers, not the coaching.

The coaches recruited them and it definitely matters, the guy at the top is responsible for the cluster that happens under his watch. If he can recruit kids from st mary's school of the blind and not be responsible for it then I want to coach at that school!
Throwing strikes can be extremely technical AND VERY mental, its the coaches responsibility to ascertain the prescription, thats why hes getting paid the big bucks and we assume he has the ability or knowledge and being a great pitching coach is extremely difficult, you don't just put someone in that position willy nilly.

All this is contingent on them not making it to Omaha, I still believe they will, but its not looking good and it is 100% the coaches fault for the success or failure of the team.

The pitching coach needs to go.

Please do enlighten me as to what you think a pitching coach should do with pitchers who cant throw strikes? The pitching coach's job is to help you get maybe another 1-2 mph on your fastball or get your curve to break more. If you cannot throw strikes coming out of the bullpen (your only job) then theres not much a pitching coach is going to do for you.

They were recruited because they could pitch. A pitching coach makes them better, works on mechanics....etc.

Most disappointing loss in a season of disappointing losses. You can be absolutely dismayed at what this team has done without believing the proper response is to just tear the whole thing down. What a waste of a player of the year effort by Melendez and a pitching staff that at one point had several future millionaires on it and now looks like a bunch of future minor league bench warmers.

Accountability - where is it? Dugout, practice field, locker room, Sixth Street?

I am so disgusted, I want CDC to rent a bus (not luxury but used Greyhound) and bus this crew to Morgantown. Show them what years in the minors looks like, put them up in the Motel 6 not the Marriott.

Every team, player, or group can have "A bad day". Hell, I was on a Babe Ruth All Star team that went into the last inning against Jasper leading 13-0, and the starting pitcher was throwing a no-no. With two outs in the last inning, our pitcher gave up a walk & a single, coach replaces him with his nephew. We blew up, and lost 14-13.

Fortunately it was double elimination, but none of us ever forgot that loss or that feeling. Not sure these blowouts, throw aways even bother this group. I would like to see the coaches forced to sit in the stands Tuesday against HBU. (Not advocating firing anyone) Let the leaders lead and coach themselves. Can it be any worse?
