Texas v Nebraska Game One

French is on mound for Horns. Game is in top of second and Huskers lead 2-0 after a 4 straight hits that included a single, double, single and single with one out in top half of this inning. NU still batting with one out and runners on first and second.

Double play by Hinojosa ends the inning but Horns trail 2-0 through 1.5.

The CSU vs. TCU game is being telecast on Dish
channel 448 for those that would like to watch that
have Dish.


CFS leads 3-0 in the 6th.

Three straight singles gets a run in for Texas in the
4th. Going to the the 5th Nebraska leads 2-1.

The fifth goes scoreless for both teams and it's still
2-1 Nebraska after 5 innings.

Three walks loads the bases for the Horns in the 6th
and a two out full count single by Cody McElroy
plates two runs and the Horns take the lead 3-2.

Pitching change for Nebraska.

A one out walk and a single gets French removed
and Ty Marlow is on to pitch in the 7th with runners
on first and second.

Marlow gets out of the jam and Texas still leads
3-2 going to the stretch.

Knebel now on in the 8th. Augie once again looking for two inning save. I worry about using up his arm early in the year but as I always say Augie has forgotten more baseball than i know so I guess trust in Augie when it comes to using Knebel.

Knebel gives up a double to the third batter he faces but then gets his third K of the inning to close out the 8th.

Would be nice to get an insurance run here.

Hall with two out rbi single and Horns now lead 4-2.

Bases loaded and a passed ball gets another run across to make lead 5-2

A walk and then Weiss is HBP and game is now blown wide open as Horns lead 6-2.

Payton makes it 8-2 with a two run single. All of this done with two outs.

Much less drama in the ninth as Corey is on to close this out.

Lead off walk surrendered as Corey looks cold after long half inning he sat through. 2-0 count to next batter and Skip is out to talk to him.

Walked the first two batters and then strikes out next two.

One out to go to take first game of series.

Strike out ends the game. Corey got six outs all by K's and Horns win 8-2. Interesting note it is Augie's 700th win as Longhorn head coach.

Nice win, but I kind of wish they would have went ahead and
brought in Duke who was warming up in the pen after we
took a 8-2 lead in the 8th.

A long 8th inning on a cold night and Knebel couldn't stay
warm it seemed and threw a lot of pitches in the 9th before
getting loose it seemed.

Duke had been warming and could have came in and got
some more experience too. I just wish we would back off
Knebel some when it's possible. Still good to see us finally
put a big inning together. Nebraska's bullpen is bad and it
was again tonight. Still a good win.

This was Augie's 700th win at Texas.

Pepperdine beats #26 Aggy at Collie 5-3.

#15 OU beats Iowa 3-1 in a tournament in Corpis Christi.

#6 UCLA leads Baylor 4-2 in the bottom of the ninth.
Baylor has runners on first and second with one out.
Baylor scores one run, but leaves the bases loaded and
UCLA hangs on for the win 4-3.
