Horns get a double play to win, they get to come home and play Stanford. Not sure how good this Texas baseball is or isn't right now? They seem to lack power, they need more guys to hit consistently and I am not sure about their bullpen. They seem to have a hard time putting teams away also?
Some quick comments on the the first two weekends with the Horns now 5-3 on year.
Texas has a heck of a pitching staff but the bats are not mediocre right now, they are downright bad.
The inability last night and tonight to put Hawaii away caused a blown game yesterday and almost led to another loss tonight with only a great play by Nuncio to get a double play saving Texas from dropping a third game in the last four.
This team needs to take a long look at themselves and figure out an identity. Jungmann might be best pitcher in college baseball and Green, Milner and Stafford give you a strong weekend rotation. But you cant win if you dont score. No home runs through 8 games and you can count on one hand the number of clutch hits the Horns got this weekend. No offensive identity at all.
It is early in the year but the signs of an implosion are all there, Augie will have to really step up to right this ship. Nice to take the series but this is a series we should have swept and not one that we should be sneaking out of town barely getting two out of three.
Amazing ending. Just saw the highlight of the last play on local Austin news. Whew. The Stanford series is going to be interesting. We'll see what happens.
