Texas v. Arizona State Super Regional Game 1

Our offense is embarrassing. Lambson couldn't break a pane of glass, but we make him look like Sandy Koufax. I don't see us scoring 2 runs in a simulated game during BP.

I expect the Sun Devils to just step on the plate and swing at this point. Carrillo is out, McKiernahan (sp?) in.
 
Defense and offense let Texas down tonight thru 8 innings, pitching was good enough to win most games. 3 runs on 4 stinking hits plus 2 big errors by Texas.
 
Last week, the Princeton coach was asked about playing Texas. He said something like "We know what their game plan is: they plan to beat us 1-0. Well, our plan is to win, 2-1." He was a little off, right? His team scored 3, but we scored 5. Maybe ASU is better than Princeton?
 
What Chesty said.............pathetic. Even little leaguers know who is going to take the bag on a hit back to the pitcher with a runner on first. Two Ks on top of that makes your defense look that much worse.

"We just don't have the bats this year..... "

That is precisely why this team can't win a national championship this year. They've put in an amazing performance in winning as many games as they have with a pee wee batting average. But, when you have such tiny bats, you can't afford to give away runs on errors. Three runs is a mountain for our team to overcome against a playoff team.

We aren't out of this yet, but the hole is mighty deep.
 
Well this stinks, had to leave after the top of the third with Texas trailing to teach and by time got to sports bar in the 8th it was just in time to se ASU score its third run.

Seems like the story of this year once again with the offensive woes. Tough to see Taylor lose his only two games ever at home these last two games.

This series isnt over and with Cole and Sam pitching the Horns have a chance to come back just as they did in 2000 in the Tempe Regional to beat ASU twice and advance but the bats will have to come alive and that has been very hit and miss this season.
 
Texas needs more focusness at the plate. Just see the ball and hit it. While they are at it, maybe some zero error games in the field would reduce the pressure.
 
The score would not have been tied without those errors. Our ONE run was unearned, so we would've lost either way. Still sucks
