Texas tourney watch

Even with a loss to BU, if we finish 9-9, we still have a shot. I don't get the NIT doomsayers. I'm not there yet. This team has improved immeasurably in the last 3 weeks. I like our chances.

Chapman must stay out of foul trouble or Acy is going to have double digit dunks on us.

We certainly have a chance at the dance and I am hopeful, but the way this team has played in the first half of the last three games doesn't make me overly optimistic.

When Texas was 39th in RPI we were considered by most as one of the last four in. I think we will go 2-2 to finish the season and the conference tourney will be big for us.

Yep. This last game certainly didn't help. IMO, the next 3 AND first round tourney game are must-wins. Guess our direction will be much clearer this time tomorrow.

even though I considered tonight to be the season, I guess winning two of the last three, to put us at 19 wins, and then winning two games in the conference tourney, 21 wins; that should get us to the NCAAs?

But, to win that 2nd tourney game, you have to most likely beat Kansas or Mizzou.

Barring an upset on the road of Kansas or a run in the Big XII tourny to the finals, last night was the final nail in the coffin. Looks like 19-12 (19-13 assuming fquarterfinal loss in the tourny) is most likely record and that just isnt going to get it done. You can point to 4-5 games this year all of which had they gone differently might have Texas on the good side of the bubble, but none of them did.

As of this moment, we'd need either:
A. to upset KU in the regular season, or
B. beat Tech/OU AND make a run in the conference tournament

And this is just to get in.

I think the pollsters might pity us come Selection Sunday if we're at 20 wins (Tech, OU, and first round of conference tourney). Kind of like the PJ Tucker year when with went 9-7 with a hurt Aldridge and poor guard play. But right now, I'm thinking we're a "home" seed for the NIT.

Cool. 0-3 against Baylor this year in sports that matter. But, hey!!! We've got our own network and we're #1 in merchandise sales.

Before losing a close game to a good team we were considered on the "in" side of the bubble. And now it's instant gone to hopeless?

I've kept steady with my opinion of this team all year saying I never thought they were a tourney team. It's not what I want, but just what I see in the team. The complete inconsistency of play from one game to the next is why I don't think they can beat KU nor make a run in the conference tourney.

It wouldn't surprise me if they beat KU because they have talent to keep up. If they do win they probably will get in, but I just don't think it will happen based off the body of work. They've played a lot of good teams close and lost them all.

I can't believe I'm in Lyon, France and I'm checking on Longhorn basketball. What's wrong with me?

Anyway, RPI is now 55. With that last crap against Tech they keep getting closer and closer to the NIT.

I have to think we might see the results of all that good faith Texas engendered with its steadfast love for its God-foresaken albatross of the Longhorn Network (i.e. death to Texas recruiting when no games are on TV, anywhere). But as an added bonus, our bubble status will be debated by a room full of other school's AD's who will take great pleasure in putting a fork in the Longhorns. I say it is win in Lawrence, or make the final of the Big 12, or NIT here we come.
