Texas seeding

I'm sure most don't want to discuss it after a disheartening loss. I just want to mention what I think we have over the teams they are saying will take our TWO-SEED. Alot of predictions have us as the 2nd or 3rd THREE-SEED. What?!? "What have you done for me lately' much???

Texas versus:

North Carolina- After today's loss to Duke, NC will have had a horrible tourney. Shoulda lost both games they played, and barely skimmed by. Two extremely close calls and a loss, not very impressive. With the same # of losses as Texas, a head-up loss on their turf, and Texas having a strong tourney before the final (which we played in Kansas)...I can't see NC taking a slot from us.

UCONN- Simply put, I don't see the #21 ranked team jumping ahead of the #10 ranked team with one more win in their tourney. Yes, they won their final...we lose our final. That's still a one-win difference. Is that worth making up 11 spots in the rankings? Not to mention they have 9 losses on the year. Even with the small head-up win at our place...the body of work will be accounted for. They have strong wins/losses, yet still 9 losses is too much to jump us. If anyone takes our TWO-SEED it's UCONN.

NOTRE DAME- Like Texas they did not win either title. Yet they also didn't even make it to their tourney final. One less loss than Horns, yet not even playing in the final and losing to a team ranked #14 will cost them. Still think they get a TWO SEED because of national media buzz and strong conference.

BYU- Please!!!

PURDUE- Please!!!

ONE SEEDS - Ohio St., Kansas, Duke, Pitt

TWO SEEDS (exact order unsure) - Notre Dame, Florida, San Diego St., TEXAS

Texas is my final TWO-SEED, yet UCONN would be the one team I could see bumping us to the 1st THREE-SEED. IMO, that would be bogus though.

***If Kentucky beats Florida I think we are locked for a TWO-SEED***

***If North Carolina beats Duke, our chances go way down to claim the last TWO-SEED****

UConn will get at least a No.2 seed; they just finished 5 wins in 5 days over DePaul, Georgetown, Pitt, Syracuse, and Louisville.

Texas just finished the last 5 games (not in a consecutive 5-day period) with a loss to KSU (in Austin), wins over Baylor, OU, A&M, and a loss to KU.

And UConn did beat Texas in Austin earlier, though on a last-second OT bucket.

Plus, UConn has maybe the highest profile player in the country (Jimmer is out in the mountains somewhere, UConn is in the middle of East Coast media).

IMHO, if it comes down to the committee chosing between UConn and Texas, I think they, and myself, would give the edge to UConn.

I am still much more concerned with the Horns being placed in Tulsa in the first rounds, and what regional they are scheduled for after that.

Really need SA or Nawlins, assuming Gary Johnson recalls how to dunk and shoot freethrows.

Otherwise it may not matter WHAT regional they are scheduled for.

I agree UCONN would be the one to go ahead of us out of the other contenders. Yet I also see their 9 losses being considered. They did finish hot in the strongest conference, yet entered their conference tourney with 9 losses and ranked #21. Their regular season ended ranked 9th in the Big East with a 9-9 record. OUCH!!! Jumping them in the top 8 is a strong possibility, yet the selection committee tends to focus on the entire season a little more than the media. I could see it going either way and wouldn't have a complaint if we lost out. I'd love to see Kentucky bounce Florida, so both of us would have a good shot at a two-seed.

That being said, I agree the difference between a 2 and 3 seed is much less important than the region we play in.

BYU won't be a 2-seed. Just as the committee did years ago with Cincinnati after Kenyon Martin broke his leg, BYU's loss of Brandon Davies makes them a different team and the committee will seed them as such. They've lost 2 games by 18 points over the past 2 weeks and will be lucky to pull a 3-seed (I predict a 4).

I think we'll be a 3 in the SE Region.

I am hoping to stay in the 2, but don't see how we drop to a #4 when being ranked number 10 in the country and losing to KU in what was pretty much a home game for them. I don't think a 4 is possible.

Duke is up by 15 with 4 min, NC goes behind us, IMO. Kentucky is about to beat Florida...up by 11 with 2 min Neither of them (Kentucky or Florida) will go ahead of us now. Texas has a very good shot at a 2-seed after today's outcomes.

I still think 2 seed. You can throw Florida off the 2 line. They just got beat down worse than we did by a 16 ranked Kentucky team.

UNC just got thrashed. And if it's between Horns and NC, we won head up in their backyard. Horns will get the nod.

I don't know, 2 or 3, but if it is 3 we will be royally screwed, and we won't be going too far, I fear (except via airplane).

Oakland is a good team and will give Texas trouble. Texas wins they will face Arizona or Memphis, tough matchup

Wow, we got screwed royally. No way we should have fallen that far after all the quality wins we had. I could see a three seed, not a four. Anything more than one win would be a bonus, after that reaming. thanks NCAA. Aren't we 10th or 11th in all measures?

A #4 seed in the West Region, with Duke (#1), SDSU (#2), and UConn (#3). Disappointing, but I can live with that considering how the 'Horns finished out the season.

Of the #1 seeds to face, Duke is the least proven, so that's a plus. San Diego State is probably the least proven #2 seed. UConn and Arizona as #3 and #5 will be difficult.
