Gametime -- Saturday at 7 pm in Stillwater on ABC

Both teams coming off a bye
Sam Ehlinger began throwing a ball and appears to be on schedule to play
We lost to them last year 13-10 in OT and they have won the last 3 against us. However we are 8-2 all-time in Stillwater and control the overall series 24-8.
OSU has dropped their last 2 (ISU and KSU), and 3 of their last 4 overall (including TTU). This was after a 3-0 start. Their one win in their last 4 was at Kansas 48-28.
If you like the FPI (and even if you dont), a Texas win is at 52% Texas 2018 FPI - Longhorns - ESPN

Lastly, the Playoff Rankings come out 3 days after this game

I really hope Sam is 100% or on the sidelines with a headset. We need him at his best to make a strong finish on the year. And I do think Shane will be ready to perform well this week if needed.

I know we all have opinions on this.

My assumption is that he will NOT be 100% by Saturday. I also assume he will play.

I wonder, medically, what percent is acceptable. Not from docs "in the community" but from team physicians (UT, NFL, NBA types). I think they have a better sense of how injuries like this respond in game settings.

I would certainly hope so, considering that is what they would be getting paid for.

It would be nice to have an idea of what percentage of "healthy", for lack of a better word, would be considered acceptable for Sam to return to playing, as you mentioned.

I also doubt that he will be 100% by Saturday, but he will probably play if it is probable that the chances of further damage to his shoulder are neglectable. Lot of verbiage to say that he will play if able to and cleared to do so.

If he's not 100% don't play. I think we are more than capable of winning this game with Shane. If the OLine can just get through a game without holding, we'll still move the ball and score in the high 20s if not 30s. I think that's enough. OSU's O is nothing like it's been. Be good to get a defensive or special teams TD this week.

The trouble with a guy like Sam is that he will tell you he is 100% just to get on the field. He is such a competitor, they will need to hide his helmet to keep him on the sideline.

Sounds like they are preparing Shane to start Saturday.
I hope we have some sweet wild-cat stuff this weekend to replace some of the red zone run plays Sam was running. Put Ingram and Danny Young in the back field with an option for a jump pass to Collin Johnson and LJ. That is 4 talented bodies to deal with.

Sterns is only freshman on list
I think no Jones is a little curious

Pokes will put 7-8 in the box. Hope Shane is on.

And/or Sam. i read on hornfans that Sam was healing quickly and could start Saturday. If osu stacks the box, and I assume they will, then great pressure will be put on our QB's to get the ball out quickly, run draws, and audible away from the blitz.

Beck and TH need to have a good scheme to account for loading the box.

Andrew Beck has strep throat
Which is contagious

Sam is??? Now Beck is out and others prolly have been exposed.... not liking these factors leading up to road game in Stoolwater.

Okie Lite has lost 3 of last 4, they've had 2 weeks to prepare and are hungry. Horns are a better team but I suspect they will get an A game effort from Pokes.

I read where Casey Thompson is the fastest and niftiest Longhorn quarterback. I wonder if the coaches have considered using him on running plays to save the wear and tear on Sam and the fragile Shane?
